A Senate panel has approved energy legislation that would lift the 40-year-old ban on crude oil exports and open some areas of the Outer Continental Shelf to oil and gas exploration.
Republican Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, chairman of the panel, championed the plan to lift the restrictions. It passed by a party-line vote of 12-10.
Murkowski said lifting the ban would turn the U.S. into an energy superpower.

Correct
I was being facetious, but unlike crude oil, wheat can be used for other things besides bread. Crude oil doesn’t spoil, so it can be left in the ground if the prices gets too low, but wheat has to be used or it goes bad, so the product would find it’s way into other market sectors where it wasn’t used before, because it was too expensive, like animal feeds......................
I doubt this bill will pass the environazi’s desk in the WH..................
Then it is not being produces. When an oil company shuts down production on a oil lease, they lose the lease. Often they can pay penalties to keep the lease without production.
But cash flow is king. Most cannot afford to spend $6~10 million on a well and not flow the oil and receive some payment.
No, do what the Dems would do. Attach it to another bill that they want funding for and we are generally against. That way if he vetos one he kills the other. This is what the party in the MAJORITY gets to do. The Dems did it to us for years. Why do we not do the same?
Increasing refining capability to handle sweet light is a great idea, but why not do both?
If you give the “captains of industry” a short term easy way out, they will take it.
Looks like giving domestic US oil producers access to world markets would add to the glut of oil already on the world market, especially since Iranian oil will now be openly traded as well, further depressing the price and tending to drive the frackers out of the market...................
The farmers like it because they sell corn to the distilleries rather than to the food (or whiskey) producers. Corn based food costs more since this is removed from the supply chain of grain available to make food.
You think Iran should be allowed to export oil but not Texas and other states?
We need to be on equal footing or other nations will receive more investment for oil production.
Having more opportunities to sell will not hurt the US oil industry.
Our people should have all access to whatever market they want to access. Iran’s oil was probably on the market anyway, disguised as some other source...........................
You accused me of lying. You have not responded to what what statement you claim is a lie and you continue posting on other threads.
Defend your attack on me or admit it false.
good clarification...ethanol is best described as an additive, not a blending agent....
central_va is nothing but a troll or incredibly ignorant.
I do get it, I am very aware of what you have said.
But that doesn’t, or should not prevent us from trying though.
You won’t reach all of them, but there will be those who might be redeemable.
