Once again, Microsoft screwed the world with its Windows 10 feature called Wi-Fi Sense. This nasty feature has serious legal implications for it will automatically connect your personal Wi-Fi network to anyone in your e-mail list using HotMail, Skype, or Outlook, and even Facebook, making those friends questionable. If any such person comes within range of your home Wi-Fi, they could secretly access your system from hundreds of yards away.
The real problem with this is rather sinister. The government would no longer need a search warrant for your surrendered privacy; good luck finding a judge who will uphold the rights that exist only in your imagination.

Windows 10: the good news just keeps coming.
It’s really easy to not enable that during the install. I’m not impressed with 10, so I restored Windows 7 from my Clonezilla backup image. The Windows created backup images are worthless.
Thanks for posting this. Disabled that Wi-Fi setting immediately.
Been seeing a ton of posts about Win10.
Someone has to come up with a Windows-esque OS to replace it. One that doesn’t give away your privacy.

What wi-fi? If you want to use my network, you’ll have to plug in an Ethernet cable.
Linux Mint
Stuck for now with Win 8. Bought an open box computer and the store had installed a multi-license copy, which won’t register. Not going to spend the $ to buy a copy...
I've had a start-up icon saying:
Reservation - Confirmed
Download - Complete
Upgrade - Available
And then MS prompts me to continue, but I think I'll wait awhile until I get more feedback from FReepers who have already downloaded Windows 10 to see what their results are.
Thanks, just turned that sucker off.
Problem is, I game. Not a lot, but it’s still a pain having to download them again. With my HDD and SSD, I’ve redownloaded them about 3 times.
People are backtracking and calling the ‘wi-fi’ problem a non-problem. It’s not anything that people should be worried about, and the people spreading the FUD are mostly, just anti-MS.
Had a problem a while ago with someone leeching off my wifi. Had to have my friend come and reset it, because I sometimes don’t write down usernames and passwords. Plus he’s been working with and on computers since he was about 10, so I trust him fully. And he went to a tech school for it as well.
Download and installed this crap-ware on Friday. It will not let me access the internet via wi-fi or cable. I have 30 days to go back to the crap 8.1. Not much of a choice. FUMS!
I'm not a computer whizz, but it works for me.
I don’t like playing checkers. That’s the easy answer. I could go on.................
I upgraded a widows 7 and a windows 8 box on 7/30. I used Windows media creation tool to make 32 and 64 bit iso downloads.
Install was flawless and I turned off the WI FI sharing option.
Cortana works very well. It will open programs and apps when asked. It will bring up travel routes onthe map app using verbal requests. It will also transcribe email, very slick.
It’s Edge browser missing some options I use but can still use Internet Explorer and Firefox.
The new start menu works well. I use GodMode to access every setting on my machines.
