The first Republican presidential debate is just days away, and all anyone in Washington can talk about is Donald Trump.
Mr. Trump was the name on every Sunday show hosts lips, forcing a number of other GOP presidential hopefuls to field questions about the real-estate magnate. Several of his rivals opted for a soft approach on the billionaire, who has jumped to the front of the Republicans 2016 field, according to the latest Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll.

For his part, Mr. Trumpwho called into several Sunday showsappeared to be trying to portray himself as the grown up at a table full of squabbling kids. Of his own verbal assaults on fellow GOP candidates, Mr. Trump said on ABCs This Week. Every attack Ive made was a counterpunch. They attacked me first, and I hit back.
I dont think Im going to be throwing punches, Im not looking to attack during the coming debate, he continued. It remains to be seen how well he sticks to that game plan. Sunday morning, Mr. Trump went onto Twitter to taunt his rivals, a number of whom were attending a gathering in California hosted by the conservative industrialist Koch brothers, Charles and David.
I wish good luck to all of the Republican candidates that traveled to beg for money etc. from the Koch Brothers. Puppets?

His will be nicknamed “MILF”...
Malia I’d Like to....well....
That was a little low. These guys do not have their own gold bars
and they are not able to generate the media buzz. Show a little mercy, Donald.
Trump is providing an unpredictability that will serve to produce outcomes that offer risks and surprises.
The repubs have been very short on these commodities. Boring, to say the least.
I LOVE that pic. I’ve yet to figure out what is going on with Cruz’ sleeve, though ;-) (Did he shrink en route to NYC?)
I’m lost...
What on earth are you talking about?
And why bring Malia into it?
BTTT!
More than likely Trump gave him one he just happened to have around, because Cruz came without.
Love the picture of Trump and Cruz—it says it all. The two of them could change the game in Washington. Watch and see if Cruz attacks Trump—or defends him from the attacks by Perry, Christie, Walker, and Bush. They could be a good double team—Cruz is a good debater—It will be great TV—I just hope Fox is up to it.
Like the song sez, “Sam! The pants are too long!”
Does that date me?
Once Cruz gets Donald’s Veep gig he can start patronizing Don’s tailor, too.
I hope Cruz goes very light or even keeps mum re Trump, either pro or con.
1. Trump can stand up for himself. I don’t think that’s in question. And...
2. Cruz shouldn’t come off as a Trump sychophant. He should just be his own man. The Donald KNOWS who his friends are, and that includes Ted.
Exactly...and his collar is too big, too...did he borrow one of The Donald’s coats?!
There’s a story there ;-)
“Several of his rivals opted for a soft approach on the billionaire”
Yeah, because they’ve recently figured out that dumping on The Donald brings back quadruple the load dumped back.
Go Trump!
Rick Laraza Perry, Lindsey in the closet Graham, and bad pilot McCain, all attacked Trump hoping to bully him.
When Trump counter-punched, they have stopped the attacks.
A bully always runs when the recipient punches back.
Romney...are you paying attention?
I think they meant Trump’s wife, Malinia. (I don’t think that’s spelled correctly)
lol Not that the sentiment would be so much better.
