A grand jury has indicted Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton on multiple felony charges, according to several sources who are familiar with the complaints.
The charges will be unsealed in McKinney on Monday about noon, and a Tarrant County judge has already been appointed to preside over the case, sources told News 8.
After the indictments are unsealed, Paxton can surrender to be photographed, fingerprinted and booked at any of the state's 254 county jails.
It's unclear exactly what Paxton will be indicted for, although a grand jury here has heard evidence that Paxton, 52, violated securities laws.
Special prosecutors in the Paxton case told News 8 they planned to present a third-degree charge of failing to register with the state securities board, as the law requires. They also said they planned to present a first degree felony charge against Paxton accusing him of securities fraud. All indications are that charge is related to Servergy, a McKinney-based company that has been under investigation by the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Paxton does not have to resign or step down from statewide office as he prepares to face a criminal trial. He can continue to work, just as Gov. Rick Perry did after his two felony indictments in August 2014. Paxton's case, legal experts predict, will go to trial since his law license and statewide office are now on the line.
He was sworn in as Texas' top law enforcer on January 1. The indictments relate to alleged conduct that occurred while he was serving in the state legislature.
Special prosecutor Kent Schaffer first revealed to News 8 last month that the Texas Rangers had uncovered new evidence. He said then that the securities fraud allegations involved losses in excess of $100,000, but Schaffer declined to reveal the specifics of them.

did Ronny Earle get another job??
My thoughts exactly.
Not saying we wouldn’t have a crook on our side, but the charges down in Texas seem to fly fast and furious enough to get people discredited and out of office, but not thorough enough to put Leftist abusers of the legal system behind bars.
The political class is corrupt. Name the biblical vices and they are guilty.

Maybe.

Former Travis County District Attorney Ronnie Earle speaks at a panel on ethics and government at Netroots Nation in Austin, Texas in July 2008.
Ronald Dale "Ronnie" Earle (born February 23, 1942) was, until January 2009, the District Attorney for Travis County, Texas. He became nationally known for filing charges against House majority leader Tom DeLay in September 2005 for conspiring to violate Texas' election law and/or to launder money. Earle prosecuted other politicians, including Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison and State Representative Mike Martin, as well as Texas Attorney General Jim Mattox on charges of commercial bribery.
His cases against Hutchinson and DeLay were unsuccessful; Hutchinson was found not guilty and DeLay's conviction was overturned on appeal about three years after the conviction. Earle's only success was with Mike Martin, although the felony perjury charge was reduced to a misdemeanor after a plea bargain. In 1985, as Travis County District Attorney, he accused then-Attorney General Jim Mattox of threatening Fulbright & Jaworski's municipal bond business unless one of their lawyers stopped trying to question his sister, Janice Mattox, about a bank loan. The loan was an issue in a lawsuit involving Mobil Oil Co. and Clinton Manges, a South Texas oil man and rancher who financially supported Mattox, who was acquitted after a long trial. On one occasion, Earle prosecuted himself for an election law violation after missing a campaign finance filing deadline by one day; he was fined $212.[1]
Busy little neo-commie, ain't he?
.
DeLay, Perry, now Paxton-these bastards just can’t let it go, can they?
Nope. They will never stop and we know that their judges are just politicians in robes.
Him or some other 'rat scum in Austin ! This is nothing more or less than a 'rat abuse of the judicial process - typical of the fecal 'rats that infest our state capitol. They should be strung up by their short hairs.
There is bound to be a way to let them have enough political rope to do the deed to themselves...
Should have been trading in cattle futures... /s
Since it’s not mentioned...I assume he’s a democRAT
This is pure Saul Alinsky garbage
Paxton is a Republican, all state-wide elected officials in Texas are.
One becomes so conditioned to the idea that if party affiliation is not mentioned in the first three words, and subsequently omitted from the following paragraphs they are a democRAT.
Sort of like the “teens” euphemism for feral black youth
The criminalization of policy differences.
I will enjoy seeing these “prosecutors” aka demscum political hacks get Nifonged.
The dems use these type of hacks because they can’t get elected in Texas outside of the urban hives. All state office are GOP.
Waiting for Cruz to be indicted on some BS charges soon. Count on it.
Indeed. Former Gov. Perry was indicted for (GASP!!!) vetoing a law!!! The nerve of a Governor!!!!!
