Donald Trump Is Not as Aggressive on Immigration As He Sounds
Time ^ | 7/27/2015 | Tessa Berenson

Onn MSNBC the next day, Trump endorsed a “merit system” for the millions of undocumented immigrants already in the country—something that sounds a lot like a path to some sort of legal status, if not citizenship. “I have to tell you, some of these people have been here; they’ve done a good job; in some cases sadly they’ve been living under the shadows,” he said. “We have to do something. … Somebody’s been outstanding, we (ought to) try to work something out.” That puts Trump to the left of, say, former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, whose campaign told TIME in May that he would not support a pathway to legal status or citizenship under any circumstances. And it puts him in line with other Republican candidates, such as former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, who have endorsed some kind of legal status but not citizenship.

They are grasping for straws....digging out 30 year old divorce records, and his objection to the lawyer pumping breast milk in front of him.

Trump should compare our immigration laws to those of Mexico. They have an awesome one and ours sucks.

Makes all illegals FELONS for example, must be self sufficient, etc, etc,etc.....

Be sure to read this and then plan to vomit.

lol, if Trump does not understand foreign trade, Bush, Walker, and others not only do not understand foreign trade, they have wrong notions about it.

Trump should be lauded for bringing in attractive Eastern European models for his modeling agency and attractive European waitresses and maids at his hotels.

3rd worlders are still 3rd worlders when they get here. Maybe a few generations down the line that MIGHT change, but probably not. Has the ghetto changed after all this time?

That is pretty much the point.

Trump understands foreign trade per se, but he’s never said much of anything about unions, taxes, regulations, the EPA, and all the other liberal wounds that are self inflicted.

If we got rid of much of our liberalism, it wouldn’t matter a tinkers damn what China or anyone else does. I do not think Trump agrees with that. I think he would rather punish China, not understanding the unintended consequences. Nothing he’s ever said indicates he does.

Great that Wisconsin signed the Ulta-Sound bill and are outlawing the sell of body parts. Er, nice gestures from the Conservative Senators to bring up bills as well.

Trump is among the very most hardcore candidates on immigration, and he’s serious about building a wall at the border. He’s the only one who is, that I’m aware of.

Not true. He is middle of the road. Most of the candidates want to secure the border, including building a wall. Trump says to build the wall where it makes sense. Trump does not say what he would do with visa overstays who make up 40% of the lawbreakers here. Trump also will allow the "good ones" to stay and work here. That is amnesty.

Ted Cruz is good on immigration control as well.

Ted Cruz supports legalization without a path to citizenship (read amnesty) and increasing the number of guest workers.

I was pretty sure he said citizenship was out of the question, but some form of merit based stay visa.

Also known as amnesty.

Legalization is amnesty. Citizenship is just the cherry on top.

Santorum is the best on immigration. He wants to deport the illegals period and reduce legal immigration.

Immigrants from India as a group have higher incomes, higher educations and larger net worth than white Americans, native Americans, European immigrants, Japanese Americans, Jewish Americans, and immigrants from any other country.

Thanks to our GOOD FRIENDS at Time we now know this about Trump - yeah right! To be president of the United States Donald Trump would gladly pay whatever he had to in losses incurred by NOT hiring illegals anymore.
