A father shot was arrested after shooting down an $1,800 drone that was hovering over his sunbathing daughter.
William H. Merideth, 47, from Kentucky was charged with first degree criminal mischief and first-degree wanton endangerment.
The owner of the drone claims he was only trying to take pictures of a friend's house, when Merideth shot at the device, sending it crashing into a field near his yard last weekend.

“All drones should be outlawed except the military. Even should not be used by the police.”
Just what we need, more laws and bigger government.
Based on their ability to ID him as the “shooter”, the drone was either at close range with a wide angle lens camera, or equipped with a telephoto zoom lens for observing activity at the ground level.
Winner. Way back when the drones were just hitting the market......I said the real money is in a way to counter the drone without anyone knowing.
Killing the optics with a laser is the way to go. Since they have tracking lasers that can shoot mosquitoes out of the air, how hard can it be to adapt to one or two drones?
Spot on!
Me too.
I believe he said his daughter was sunbathing at the time, with the drone hovering over head...So we got a high tech peeping tom...And then the drone was low enough to look under a 10 foot roof over the patio...
They need to see the video the drone was recording...
Sounds like a Shark Tank business prospect- call them Drone Busters!
How many others here did you choose to send you’re carp to?
Or did you choose just me? GTH!
It doesn’t matter where the drone was hovering, it matters where the camera was pointed. The footage should clear it all up real quick.
Doing what a father needs to do.
These are not "drones" but merely RC quadro-copters and their usage is currently highly restrictive in where they can fly.
I'd rather the current laws be enforced than to see additional legislation that would ultimately ban the flying of all RC aircraft.............
True enough...do they have the video?
I applaud the father but think that a .410 would have been much more appropriate. Falling pellets are not dangerous to life and limb.

He shot it using a shotgun; not a rifle or pistol. His young daughters were sunbathing by the backyard pool and the drone was hovering over his property. ...Good shoot!
A drone could have a weapon on it. One never knows.
You would have thought?
WAR OF THE DRONES! IT’S ON!
