Researchers at Purdue Universitys School of Hospitality & Tourism Management recently asserted that if McDonalds were to pay their employees $15 an hour, the cost of a Big Mac would go up by 17 cents. According to the studys findings, the proposed minimum wage hike would, in general, spike the average meal cost at a limited-service establishment to upwards of 30 more cents a visit:
Another option proposed by Ghiselli to accommodate the minimum wage increase would be to downsize menu items. For example, burgers would see a 12% decrease in size at most establishments.

I’d gladly pay an extra 17 cents for a Big Mac to get service without an attitude.

And I remember when a Big Mac was 39 cents and you could get one, with fries and a drink for under a dollar....
I would hazard that the prices would go up a bit more than what the author claims is "exactly the amount" though...

If you live in a state with In-N-Out, you can get a better burger with politeness.

Id gladly pay an extra 17 cents for a Big Mac to get service without an attitude. Sadly, it will be 17¢ more, with an even larger sense of entitlement on the side...

Yes, but, with an across-the-board minimum wage increase, those increases would likely result in across-the-board price increases -- beyond fast food enterprises.

Agreed. One of the very few things I miss about CA.

On the plus side, they finally got rid of the ‘you must be within 500 miles of corporate headquarters to open a store’ rule, and are spreading further afield.
An In-N-Out in Alabama can’t be all that far into the future.

The Double Double, camping out in Big Bear to pan for gold in Holcomb Creek, and camping out on Jumbo Rocks at Joshua Tree. Other than that, not a thing!

I’d like to see this study reviewed by Thomas Sowell or someone else of similar qualifications. There are just too many ways to structure a study in such a way that it produces a predetermined outcome. Michael Mann’s infamous hockey stick comes to mind.
