Officials in Cass County, Texas, say the man suffered a graze wound to the head when he fired at an armadillo and the bullet ricocheted off the mammal's rigid protective covering and struck him.
In April, 54-year-old Larry McElroy, of Leesburg, Georgia, accidentally shot his mother-in-law when the round he fired at an armadillo bounced off its shell and struck the 74-year-old woman in the back.
In that case, the armadillo did not survive.

I was present and observing from behind and slightly to the left of the six-man firing line. Only observing because a friend was trying out my weapon.
One shooter was firing a Colt .45 revolver.
A Colt .45 bullet penetrated a target, struck something in the embankment to the rear of the target, ricocheted back across to the shooters' side of the creek, and struck one of the other shooters in the gut.
Two of us could see the bullet returning; the velocity was that slow. The bullet left a bruise on the man's gut, but he was not seriously hurt.
The bullets are bouncing off of something else, that shell isn’t that tough.
I keep hearing about people eating armadillos. Anyone here tried one before? How did it taste?
The very first time I took the now ‘better half’ out on my property I carried along a S&W Model 31 chambered in .32 S&W Long. I’d bought it years ago specifically for first time shooters.
I had a target set up in front of a large sweet gum tree(I know now-big mistake!) and on about her third shot the bullet richocheted off the sweet gum literally straight back and bounced off her belly. Scared the bejesus out of me as I could see it traveling back at her! She just laughed it off like nothing happened and asked if she could shoot my Glock 23. That was the moment when I realized I would marry this girl.
FWIW, she hates the S&W-called it wimpy-and LOVED the Glock.
Oh, she’s a keeper!
LOL! My borzoi is growling and barking at this Arma-gif on my screen.
Kingdom of the Armadillo!
Possums with armor.
I hear he called the shot: “Watch this, off the armadillo’s shell and nothing but back”...
Yes indeed! We’ll be together for 5 wonderful years next month!
Funny, after being relatively alone for almost 10 years after my second divorce I had all but given up on finding Miss Right-or even a reasonable facsimile thereof. We had attended high school together but never knew each other. She finally messaged me (35 years after graduation) via Facebook after she became a widow. And we’ve been inseparable ever since!
So yes, I say there IS one good reason for Facebook(tho I can’t think of any more-LOL!)
