Donald Trump has something new to crow about.
The latest numbers from the Reuters/Ipsos five-day tracking poll has boastful billionaire as the presidential choice of almost 30 percent of Republicans surveyeda stratospheric mark given the fragmented presidential field.
Hes hitting a new high with the first Republican debate just days away: Aug. 6, in Cleveland, Ohio, where coverage of Trump before, during, and after the contest is likely grow even more feverish given the new numbers.
Trumps current surgehes been gaining strength meteorically all week, according to the pollhas knocked his closest rival, Jeb Bush, back behind him by almost 20 points. Bush sits at 11 percent, with the rest of contenders gasping for air at less than 8 percent.
At a week ago this time, the Reuters/Ipsos poll had Trump at just 15 percent.

Live by the sword, die by the sword.
Yes, his big mouth helps him.
But it can bring him down just as fast.
I’ve seen this with other loose cannons, B-1 Bob Dornan comes to mind among others. And yes I know illegal aliens voting in his district helped with that.
It would be nice to have someone honest as majority leader.
I believe he is incorruptible.
Cruz and Trump are on the same side in this war.
5.4%.
His big mouth is his worst enemy.Yea we can tell.< /sarcasm >
Makes sense to me.
I’d like to omit all Ivy Leaguers too, but Trump is Wharton and Carson Yale.
Thx.
——Really? Why?-—
an observation:
He is a young idealistic senator
People are fedup with the current President that could be described as young and idealistic
meanwhile....... go scott
Cruz may be a FR favorite, but he’s just another guy in the political peloton right now.
He does have lots of dough, and I tab him as one to go the distance along with Jeb and Trump.
It’s about 2,000+ respondents in 5 days making it a large sample. The upward trend in the last week is huge in comparison to the field.
Don’t you love that there are all these experts out there who know what Trump needs to do or act. If these people knew what Trump needed to do they would be billionaires themselves. There are so many know-it-alls but Trump is Trump and I enjoy watching him move the chess pieces on the board. He is all strategy and gambits and very few could even get to what he has done to date.
Trump is masterful and it is amazing watching him trounce those who plot his failures.
Who can forget that floppy-haired fop Byron York (so 1980s!) asking Michele Bachmann if she was submissive in marriage? And Chris Wallace asking her if she was ditzy?
Love Bush getting stomped!!!
Ted Cruz 1.7%?
It’s not just one poll. Here’s another one: Trump lapping the field in Iowa:

Amen, and amen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
On another note:
Would we have any appreciable problems as a Republic, had The Supreme Court, Congress, and the voters bothered to read your home page?
With Trump, I don’t think the moderator will make a big difference. Trump will just mow her down, go back, stomp on her, then give a blasting answer.
One thing this has shown is that a successful someone from the private sector towers over any politician.
Cruz will be the best debater on technical terms.
Technical terms will be run over by Trump.
Cruz is brilliant at moving the chess pieces across the board and to his advantage. He is a genius at this.
Polls are meaningless when analyzing Bush. He's got the most dough, and will get a big boost from Dems crossing over to get him nominated (assuming Hillary continues basically unnoposed).
My preference would be to elevate him to Senate majority leader. He's too meek. As long as he's in the senate I'm afraid he'll always be an ankle biting back bencher.
