I'm pretty sure "Cecil" was invented a few days ago. They found a dead lion, they named it, they declared that he was famous, they got "outraged" and they took over the TV news.

How convenient.

They have constantly reported that Cecil was a beloved famous lion in that nature preserve. But someone linked to the website of the preserve, and there was no mention of Cecil. So they probably embellished this whole story.

The hunter, who has apologized for shooting it, probably wishes you were right.

I guess all those year of watching nature documentaries have paid off Because I know what lion society is like.

In lion prides the old males are killed by younger males who then take over the pride. In the rare event that an older lion survives the take over he becomes a solitary animal that can only “hunt” domesticated animals or farmers.

Shooting him was the humane thing to do. Male lions do not get to retire and the guides did the appropriate thing by showing him an old beast that was about to be bitten and clawed to death by a younger rival

The animal huggers are always naming critters. Maybe it started with “Bambi”, who knows. There is a shark research group who are tagging great whites and then naming them. “Mary Lee” is a 3 ton, 16 foot great white who could bite you in half and is cruising up and down the east coast.
I remember the idiot in Alaska who was camping with grizzlies and he named them too. They ate him.

I was thinking the same thing...before this story no one in my immediate sphere had heard of his supposedly beloved beast!!
