Okay. Thinking back, how many presidential nominations has it been since California had a say in the nomination process. I can’t remember it has been so long.
Before Californian’s cast a single vote in the primaries, some guy or anohter has had it locked up.
Perhaps it has been less time than I think, but it seems silly to go this route unless you already know this time it will be different.

Among Republicans, Reagan held California's delegates in 1968 as a "favorite son" when he was still governor. Deukmejian considered in 1988. That's the last I recall. In an open convention, it would carry a lot of weight.
