As we finish up the first seven months of this New American Congress, the statistics are in: This Congress is more accountable, more open, more productive and more effective, House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) told a news conference on Wednesday.
He called it the second most effective Republican-majority Congress in modern history, and he used numbers to make his point.
McCarthy said he judges accountability by the work thats been done in committee: The 30-year average is 7.4 percent of the bills get out of committee; this Congress is at 10.1, he said.

According to government bill-tracking website, a total of 37 bills and resolutions enacted by the 114th Congress since January 2015 have been signed into law by President Obama.Does not appear congratulatory.
Those 37 bills include nine naming post offices or other federal buildings; one awarding gold medals to civil rights activists who participated in Bloody Sunday, Turnaround Tuesday, or the final Selma to Montgomery Voting Rights March during March of 1965; one requiring the Treasury Secretary to mint coins in commemoration of the centennial of Boys Town; and one (sponsored by Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla.) authorizing the Secretary of State to provide assistance to support the rights of women and girls in developing countries.
Some of the bills are technical in nature, and only one is a funding billthe 2015 Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act, which fully funded President Obamas executive amnesty.
Also falling into the major legislation category: a trade bill that gives President Obama greater authority (and Congress less power) to negotiate international trade deals; and a bill making it more likely for President Obama to secure a deal with Iran on its nuclear program. (Under the Constitution, 67 senators must approve treaties; but under the Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act of 2015, the deal could take to go into effect without any vote of the Senate.)
effective at what? helping Obama?
Effective at lying. The GOP doesn’t realize it yet, but they’re on their own.
McCarthy = lying GOP hack
Maybe from McConnell’s perspective, (under Obama’s desk on his knees) it looks productive.
Actually he MAY HAVE A POINT.
If the Republicans in Congress had actually behaved like Republicans then Trump wouldn’t have anything to run on, and he would either be “in the pack” or, more likely, not running.
But given the results from this bunch, Trump is now CLEANING THEIR CLOCK, and 2 years from now we may have to look back and thank Boner/McConnell for MAKING IT SO EASY for Trump to take the White House, despite the best efforts of Karl Rove and the like to stop him.
When the Dem run phony bi partisan panel stacked with union goons cooked up a scam to wipe out numerous Gop state district this snake in secret sold out the seat that kept the Dems from controlling all three state houses to spare his district from being wiped out.
There is no slime lower than this evil amnesty whore.
What a pathetic joke. These rino-defending slobs are beyond insane. Naming post offices etc is been a fine congress??? What a sick joke.
Based of flatulence level, he could be right
McCarthy, get back to me when you can point to stats that you are repealing 30 laws a day and dramatically cutting the feral behemoth. Then I’ll be impressed.
What? You’re kidding, right?
Down play specifics and up play STATISTICS. The first tactic of the desperate.
Sounds like they have learned much from obama “if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor”!
hey bakersfield. wakeup.
SHIT IN, SHIT OUT is not “productive”.
Enough of this new McCarthyism foolishness.
Statistics lie, Dude!! Like politicians..
He must have some really good weed.
