(Washington, DC) Judicial Watch announced that U.S District Court Judge Emmet Sullivan today threatened to hold the Commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service and Justice Department attorneys in contempt of court after the IRS failed to produce status reports and newly recovered emails of Lois Lerner, former director of the Exempt Organizations Unit of the IRS, as he had ordered on July 1, 2015.
During the a status hearing today, Sullivan warned that the failure to follow his order was serious and the IRS and Justice Departments excuses for not following his July 1 order were indefensible, ridiculous, and absurd. He asked the IRS Justice Department lawyer Geoffrey Klimas, Why didnt the IRS comply with his court order and why shouldnt the Court hold the Commissioner of the IRS in contempt. Judge Sullivan referenced his contempt findings against Justice Department prosecutors in the prosecution of late Senator Ted Stevens (R-AK) and reminded the Justice Department attorney he had the ability to detain him for contempt. Warning he would tolerate no further disregard of his orders, Judge Sullivan said, I will haul into court the IRS Commissioner to hold him personally into contempt.

Threatened?
Heck, they should already be on trial for obstruction.
Of course, getting the current DoJ to actually prosecute will be a heck of a trick!
I just hope the Washington Cartel doesn’t get to the Judge before he has a chance to get the IRS and DOJ in front of him....(thinking obuma will send out the dogs)
There’s a jail in the capital building, right?
Is there a Deja Vu ping list for this story? Seems I’ve read 3 or 4 other times when some judges got their backs up over this IRS mess and it never amounts to jack $#!%.
“No, seriously, I really mean it this time.”
They should be in custody, in cells. They have already demonstrated contempt after warnings.
I think there is some kind of a detention cell down in the basement.
There uses to be a full blown Congressional prison. Ah, the good old days.
Stop threatening to do things and just flippin’ DO them. Gads. When can we revive the practices of tarring and feathering and running people out on a rail?

Full title: Federal Court Orders IRS to Produce Newly Recovered Lois Lerner Emails, IRS Fails to Meet Court Deadline
(Washington, DC ) Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton announced today that Judge Emmet Sullivan ordered the IRS last week to begin producing, every Monday, nearly 1,800 newly recovered Lois Lerner emails. Judge Sullivan ruled on the matter from the bench during a status conference on July 1, 2015. Despite the court order, the IRS failed to produce any Lois Lerner emails yesterday. The IRS also failed to provide Judicial Watch a status of the Lois Lerner email production issues, as also ordered by Judge Sullivan.
They’re screwing with you, judge.
3 rules for young lawyers:
1: Do not pizz off the clerk
2: Do not pizz off the bailiff
3: Never, do not, do not even think about, under any circumstances, pizzing off the judge.
Spit into the wind and step on Superman’s cape before you pizz off a judge.
Judges are not always right.... But they are always the judge!
+1
Do it. Put Koskinen in jail.

[Theres a jail in the capital building, right?]
The Central Detention Facility (CDF/DC Jail) is located in Southeast DC at 1901 D Street, SE. The current facility was opened in 1976. In July 2002, the United States District Court for the District of Columbia vacated the population capacity limit at the DC Jail imposed in the 1985 Campbell v. McGruder court ruling. In October 2007, the Executive Administration established a population capacity at the jail of 2,164. This number is within the ranges recommended by two consultants hired independently by the Council and the Department of Corrections leadership during 2004 and supports the agencys compliance with the Jail Improvement Act of 2003. The majority of male inmates (females are housed at the Correctional Treatment Facility) housed in the Central Detention Facility are awaiting adjudication of cases or are sentenced for misdemeanor offenses. As a result of the National Capital Revitalization and Self-Government Improvement Act of 1997, sentenced felons are transferred to the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

One of the hardest things for young lawyers to learn is to say,
“Thank you judge.” and like they mean it,
when the guy in the gown knees you in the groin doubling you over at a hearing. (And sometimes it doesn’t hurt to say, “May I have another?”)
These DOJ guys seem to be saying, “Yeah, whatever ...”
