WARNING: The video above may be too graphic for some viewers. Watch with discretion.
CINCINNATI - UC police officer Ray Tensing's body camera video clearly shows that he committed "murder" when he shot and killed an unarmed black motorist at a traffic stop, prosecutor Joe Deters said Wednesday.
The shocking video shows Tensing, standing outside the driver's door, with 43-year-old Sam DuBose at the wheel, talking peacefully for about 90 seconds. Tensing repeatedy asks DuBose to produce a driver's license. DuBose says he has a license but he doesn't have it with him.

If the officer can show that he was threatened by the car, then I would support his actions.
I can’t directly see from the video that he was, but if he can establish that, then ok.
I look at it like this. People seem to think oh I can just run from the police and no problem.
But it is a problem. In doing so you put your life at risk, you put the lives of police at risk, and you put the lives of anyone who may come into the chase at risk.
What if you decide to run from the cops, and as you take off down the street a little child runs out after their ball and you kill the child?
I see a whole lot of people taking actions in which it’s obvious that they do not give a sh*t about anyone, but when that person dies, I’m supposed to give a sh*t, you know what I mean?
If people took responsibility for their actions instead of behaving like irresponsible madmen, then maybe they will find themselves dead less often.
All I am saying with this particular case is that in my initial watching of the body cam footage, it looks bad for the cop.
Could be that I’m wrong though. I’m not convicting him yet.
I see another poster has shown me that the cop is indicted, so we will see exactly what happened here eventually.
I would’ve shot jay walkers.

Good point, and it’s common sense that a cop should do his job in a way that makes it easiest for him- that is: it defuses instead of escalating an inherently tense situation.
It seems to me he approached to get a look at what might be in the reach of the “wandering hands” of the suspect.
Don’t know if that’s proper procedure but seems intelligent thing to do.
So can the irrational need to always feel superior.
This kind of hyper judgment of police is cute but the trend will be for police to be less and less responsive. It is really easy in the cushiness of ones home at a computer to judge. It is quite another thing to be in the officers shoes and deal with the level of stress and tension on the job.
I am reading more and more how people have to wait hours for police to show up when they need 911 help. As we beat down the officers with armchair quarterbacking we may find they will watch out for themselves and let the citizens kill each other.
Why are you lying? You know from this and a previous thread that never happened.
Crawl back under your rock, troll.
The corollary to that is that the communities the officers are supposed to help are now on their own. No way an officer will risk himself for ungrateful people.
The video is useless. It shows nothing. If the comments above are made in consideration of the same video I saw then an awful lot was derived from an awful little. I have no clue what happened after looking at the video.
Are you watching this one? It’s a lot better than earlier versions that were posted:

Use of a car to strike an officer is considered a deadly weapon. Not sure if that is why the officer responded with force.
The fact that he was resisting and disregarding the officers commands is what got him killed.
“Debate all you want to about if the officers life was in danger or not. The fact is - cops have been shooting at fleeing suspects for decades. It what they do. They are allowed to.”
Man, that’s sure a calloused comment. Unfortunately, it’s all to true!
I don’t beat down police officers from my computer chair, in fact I do quite the opposite.
However, in this case, I am just saying what it appears the video shows.
I am not convicting this man. I have not seen all the evidence of this case. I am not even saying that I know I am right.
I don’t have any particular affection for the man in the car, in fact, he looks like a bad guy to me.
I am just saying what it looks like the video shows.
If the officer can explain to me why what went down went down, I will be happy to listen.
Seriously, I give police A LOT of respect. However, sometimes they do make mistakes, and sometimes there are bad cops.
Every case is different, the truth is the only thing that matters.
I support cops shooting fleeing felons, contrary to current law.
But I did notice the cop was both beside the car and slightly to the rear of the deceased. Kinda tough to make a case for Assault with a Deadly Weapon on the part of the dead guy.
I lean toward accidental shooting, tried to cover it up with the help of his buddy.
But I don't know anymore than what little I could discern from the video.
As I mentioned, it was difficult to hear the exchange. I wasn’t aware that the officer asked for the bottle.
Definitely a bad shoot. Manslaughter at least.
You're just taking all the fun out of everything now.
Whoa!
I didn't know that.
Is there good case law on it?

that indicate the cop and his buddy LIED on the police report.
And that maybe be the “smoking gun” as it were that sends Tensing up for murder charges, and not the fact he shot a career criminal.
