U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents told Ohio sheriff’s deputies weeks ago not to detain a man who is in the U.S. illegally and now suspected of killing a woman and wounding another during a crime spree, law enforcement officials said Tuesday.

Lake County sheriff’s deputies questioned 35-year-old Juan Emmanuel Razo on July 7 after finding him alone in a car in Painesville, about 30 miles east of Cleveland. Unsure of Razo’s status, the deputies contacted Border Protection officials and were told he is from Mexico and in the U.S. illegally but they didn’t want him detained.

U.S. Border Patrol agents? Do we have names? The “black lives matter” jerks don’t hesitate to name policemen who are just doing their jobs. How about naming these guys? And maybe prosecuting them?

Sorry, I guess that should be “Border Protection,” not “Border Patrol.” Yet another agency?

This is another example of why the police need to be authorized to enforce immigration law. Thank you to the cowardly stupid politically correct ignorami at the USSC.

They probably were just following orders. And one can easily guess from whom.

No, CBP includes Border Patrol. They call themselves Border Patrol until they get in trouble, then they call themselves CBP.

A number of men were hanged at Nuremberg claimed that they were just following orders and they were hanged any way.

At some point the local authorities are going to have to consider the policeman’s paradox: do they let an exceptionally dangerous criminal walk because superior authorities are indifferent to his threat?

If they decide the answer is no, the best bet is to find one officer who is untroubled by the idea of euthanasia, who can quickly, and with a minimum of evidence, dispatch the rabid dog. Done infrequently, it is unlikely anyone will be troubled by the loss of a public menace.

Law enforcement officers.....need to enforce the law....otherwise, they are not law enforcement officers. I think somewhere in this mix....is an oath. Maybe they need to repeat the oath each morning.

I am not saying this is a good thing, just that it does happen. And the prerequisite to it happening is incompetence and indifference to the law by higher authorities.

Importantly, it only happens after police at the street level have tried every legal means at their disposal to protect the public. And it does not happen in isolation, but with a host of other alternative means to stop crime.

Take Baltimore, for example. The local government orders the police to not enforce the law, and to let rioters loot and commit arson. The first major police response is to obey, and not enforce the law, which results in a bloodbath and an outraged public. The local government then *blames* the police for the chaos. Police morale hits rock bottom.

What I mentioned is an extreme. Typically it only happens to multiple child molester/murderers guilty beyond any doubt. Men who even convicted prisoners despise so much that they will murder in prison. The other group are the active multiple murderers and hardened criminals. The police know there is no redemption for them and that they are as dangerous as rabid dogs.

The bottom line is that this is not easy for the police, and goes against the grain. They hate to do it because they hate having to do it. But they feel they have no other choice. If they do not act, innocent people will suffer and die, and they will have failed in their purpose.
