Kill Trump's third-party threat: Republican Party chief wants all GOP candidates to pledge not to run as independents but only one might
Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus says every GOP White House hopeful 'should pledge not to run as a third-party candidate' He was responding to threats from front-runner Donald Trump to undercut the party if Priebus and others don't show him more respect 'I think everyone understands that if Hillary Clinton's going to get beat, she's going to get beat by a Republican,' Priebus said Trump walked back the notion of a break with the party after some conciliatory gestures from the RNC The chairman of the Republican National Committee said Monday that every GOP candidate for president 'should pledge not to run as a third-party candidate,' a not-so-subtle reference to Donald Trump's threat ot breaking off and doing things his own way as an independent.
Trump, the undisputed front-runner, said last week that he wouldn't rule out running as a third-party candidate and freezing the GOP out of his meteoric rise if the party didn't start treating him better.
'Certainly, I think our candidates should pledge not to run as a third-party candidate,' RNC bigwig Reince Priebus said Monday on NBC's 'TODAY' show. But he quickly added that 'I don't see that happening' and 'I dont fear that.'
'I think everyone understands that if Hillary Clintons going to get beat, she's going to get beat by a Republican,' Priebus said. 'And most people that run for president run to win, and if our candidates want to win, then they'll have to run as a Republican.'

“The GOP will NEVER be taken seriously until they address their own ineptitude in Congress. “
It isn’t ineptitude, it’s evil. Evil whores.
No.
Has Rinse offered any criticism of the big donors who met with other Republicans and tried to formulate a plan to squeeze Trump out of the debates?
He should have chewed out anyone even suggesting that, but I don’t recall a word of criticism.
Who will be the first of the GOP primary Sweet Sixteen to weigh in and plight his or her troth to Prince Rebus and his RNC cabal?
My guess as to the first eager weasel is Linseed Graham.
What's your pick?
Leni
Alinsky these bastards right back in their faces.
Pledges and oaths mean nothing, state it clearly.
Only actions count and reveal your principles or lack of.
This is not a gotcha, it's another opportunity.
I’m voting for Trump.
The flag he runs under doesn’t matter.
As I said last week, the only way Trump goes 3rd Party is if the GOPe pulls some backstabbing trick on him at the convention.
At that point, if Trump goes 3rd, I’m going WITH him.
Good clarification. It is evil.
I frankly don’t know, I kind of doubt it at this juncture. My feeling is that he might need this stuff a lot less than a more “conventional” candidate. I suppose you cannot be without that level of tech and ground support.
The only way to discipline the GOP is to run them out of office.
First, the GOP must die.
Everything else comes after that.
I don't believe that for a second.
In March '92 Perot LED in polling in a 3-way race. Substantially.
And, he was advocating a similar platform to Trump. There's a MAJORITY of Americans opposed to "Free Trade" AND Illegal Immigration/Illegals.
Many are White, Blue Collar Democrats...Reagan Democrats.
It's not only possible, but PROBABLE that a 3rd party...focusing on those issues and their ilk, would win at least 40 states in a POTUS plurality.
Trump should fire back at PEE WEE Herman that he first needs to get the RNC and it’s Congressional Leadership to take a pledge to adhere to the Party Platform.
Bwhahahahaha watch as he table dances on that one.
Who REALLY got Perot to drop out and how?
If Perot had not mishandled the threats to kill him and his family, he would have been President.
At the present pace, I don't see anyone catching Trump--if there is somebody who might, it is Ted Cruz which would be a high class result. And Trump is not going to run a third party campaign against Cruz.
Behind the scenes, there are widespread discussions about peremptory action to install Bush the Third as the nominee. If that happens, all bets should and presumably would be off--in a race between Mrs. C and Bush 3, a third party candidate should be the winner.
My own personal assessment of the race really doesn't involve Mrs. C or this widespread horror at running against her: I don't think Mrs. C has a prayer of being the Dem nominee; if perchance I am wrong, I would view a contest with her as a real opportunity.
Presently, I think the high probability is that Biden will be the Dem and that he will be a much more difficult opponent than anyone on the Conservative side expects.
On our side, the core constituency is not going to turn out for Bush or Casich or any of the Romney style retreads; in a race between Bush installed by force by the party apparatus, against either Mrs. C or Joe, I would think a third party candidate would be a certainty and would have a good chance to win.
Now you know what’s important to them.
AFTR, If Priebus is the best Wisconsin can offer, you need to withdraw him! He’s such a limp dick!
