Scott Walker’s budget reforms in Wisconsin are one of modern conservatism’s greatest success stories. So why would Donald Trump attack them? Because 1) he is not a Republican, and 2) he is not a conservative. Trump went after Walker yesterday:
“Wisconsin is in turmoil,” Trump told a boisterous crowd at a rally in Iowa. He pointed to the state’s roads, schools and hospitals, which he said were all “a disaster.”
This is the kind of smear the Democrats perpetrate against Walker, but why would any Republican join them? This, too, is straight out of the left-wing playbook:
“A guy like Bush, a guy like Walker, are controlled by the people who give them money,” Trump said. “They will be bombarded by their lobbyists who donated a lot.”
Notice that Trump says nothing about Hillary Clinton being beholden to Wall Street donors, the baby-parts lobby, and so on. Why would any Republican parrot the Democrats’ attacks on his fellow Republicans? I don’t think any Republican would, but Trump admits he is no Republican. This was perhaps his most revealing comment:
“The other guys running, the Republicans — they protect each other,” Trump said early in his speech. “Me, I don’t care.”
So the “other guys running” are “the Republicans.” Not Trump. He’s no Republican, by his own acknowledgement. Nor is he a conservative.
Some believe that Trump is an agent of the Clintons, and his end game is a third party candidacy that will deliver the White House to Hillary, the candidate he has long supported. This may be plausible, given Trump’s history (including, but not limited to, his eight years as a registered Democrat) and the manner in which he mimics Hillary’s attacks on Republicans. I think it more likely that Trump is acting independently for his own ego gratification. But if he does run as a third-party candidate, his motives won’t matter. To the extent that he fools voters into thinking that he is a conservative, he will increase the likelihood of another four years of the Obama-Clinton disaster.
I’ve been around FR since 1999 and there have always been a bunch of “burn the barn down to kill the rats” types.
Also, never forget Soros and others of his ilk have infiltrated ALL of the Conservative forums to spread misinformation and melancholy.
Finally, some folks just aren’t very bright. A dim bulb like Trump attracts similar types.
Might I make a suggestion: quit worrying about every single thing said by Hindraker, Goldberg, Williamson, whoever....none of them are running. Only focus on whether or not they make some valid points. And all of them have made some valid points. Who cares if their motivations are bad, or if they make some invalid points. Just disregard those.
And I've written about Trump, the good and the bad, for years. The bad has been his rather routine leftist leanings. He went left of W. Bush and Walker over the weekend. That's a damned valid criticism. I could care less what Hindrakers motives are.
I think Trump is in it for Trump. That’s where his loyalty is - to himself. He seems to be a strange mix among the conservative liberal issues. Against Planned Parenthood funding due to recent outrage but for single payer health insurance. Yes, he’s brash and he’s tough and right now he’s making jobs and immigration and illegals the issue. He’s smart enough to know what resonates with the American people and he’s more honest than most of the GOPe in speaking to the American people - but really, I don’t feel I could trust him very much except in matters that will benefit Donald Trump. Character is my point.
I think you will be very disappointed if you think a Donald Trump presidency is going to save America. He might be the best of the worst but I’m not sure anyone person can save us at this point. Our problems are moral at the heart but we don’t want to go there very much in addressing those issues because we’d have to examine our own heart and morals. Corruption is killing us at many, many levels and at this point it’s extremely obvious. We should be looking (IMO) for a moral individual that will do the right things in the right way. That will tell Americans what the truth is about our sick country and what it will take to bring us back from the abyss we’re about to go over. Yea, we like Donald because he seems to be the kind of guy who will kick ass and take names and that appeals to our own little egos doesn’t it? Yea, Donald will show’em! No, he won’t. He’ll just take us in a slightly different path to the same destination.
Now I can just sense the flames coming my way but... Look at candidate Cruz. He seems to be a moral and courageous and smart individual. He has integrity and has demonstrated he’s not afraid of the GOPe hierarchy. He’s not perfect. No one is. Yet not too many people are excited about him. Yes, he’s not that exciting as a speaker but he speaks the truth when he speaks. You know where he stands on the issues or a good guess would get you close because you know his character. He’s not all brash and into himself. He’s not going to give you or anyone else the middle finger like I imagine Trump might. But I can certainly see him fighting corruption and not making deals with Harry Reid or Obama. Trump might do those things but his motives might be more in line with revenge and getting his way than with what’s best for the country at large. Yes, I would vote for him over Hillary or Joe or Bernie or anyone the left puts up but can’t we aim a little higher, especially when we have the chance? In short I trust Ted Cruz to do the right thing more than I trust Trump. I guess my real point in this rant is do we even, as a nation and as individuals, have the capacity to recognize any longer what we truly need and what will correct our national wrongs? No individual can save us if we are no longer willing to change who we are as individuals. At some point the greedy and corrupt are greater in number than the good and decent. That’s where we are today. There are more of them than of us. It’s about changing hearts and minds. It’s about sacrifices - painful ones. If we aren’t willing to be people of character we won’t know how to pick that type of person for president either. In short, we will trust in a man instead of trusting in our God.

Trump hasn’t destroyed anyone. He called a few names. And if you’re so emotionally invested in hero-worshiping Trump that you’re calling pointing to his decades-long record of left-wing activism “micro-managing” or whatever there’s no arguing with you.
Trump is a not a free-market businessman, seeking to enforce the same rules for all. He’s a quadruple bankrupt seeking favors from the State that he cannot earn in the market, in exchange for campaign contributions.
Actually, this is the first time I have ever commented on anything said by Hinderaker.
In any event, what you’re advocating is to not take issue with anything written by a pundit as long as they are generally espousing what you consider the “correct” position.
When a pundit inflates a misread or misunderstood statement into an entire blog post, one that has now been posted at least twice on FR, it should be ignored because, after all, his heart’s in the right place.
We’ll have to agree to disagree on that.
And....so who are the Republicans......certainly not Mitch McConnell & John Boehner....they are both in Obama’s pocket. Jeb Bush, John McCain, Mitt Romney, Lindsey Graham, etc.,.........certainly not these Establishment RINOs!!!
We the people, worked so hard to win the Senate and House....which we did, quite effectively....but we have seen nothing at all from our so-called leaders in the GOP. I remain a registered Republican.....but, only for voting in primaries purposes. I have become an Independent. Both Republican & Democrat Party continue to lose voters....who now call themselves Independents!!! I will stay firmly in the camp of Donald Trump until I see a marked change to conservative politics, in the now forever, weak Republican Party!!!
Trump turning several hundred million into 10 billion is hardly a dim bulb.
Even if we assume he spent 45 years doing that, that’s over 8% per year, every year. And if he did it in 35 years, as some say, that’s over 10%.
Wish I had been that dumb.

I doubt he even understands the reforms that were needed in Wisconsin and what Walker had to do to avoid State bankruptcy. His “people” probably read left wing web sites and the NYT and that is the body of their selective “knowledge.” He shoots from the leftist lip he is embedded within in NYC...the brain, not so much beyond business.
Obviously he’s trying to knock out anyone near to him in the polls except Cruz (so far). He’s also going after anyone who insults him and Walker did join the Rinos in doing that.
He should not smear Walker with NYT and Politico talking points put out by the teachers’ union that was running the state out of business and wrecking the schools. That is nuts. He could have gone after Walker’s flip flops on border security and lack of international and big business experience and understanding.
Saying the GOP is beholden to the demands of multinational (foreign and domestic) big business and their governments is an understatement. That is why we have such lousy trade deals with no loyalty to the US and open borders. I am glad Trump is talking about it but he should do so in more detail. He should also point out that the DNC runs on the same money and that is why the two parties are the say - their pay masters have the same agenda.
Cruz, because he’s a Senator who has actually seen the dirty deals and deceptions, has explained the international and domestic corporation money corruption of the GOP and DNC in Congress clearly, and he’s getting a lot of money from small donors. Trump has no idea of the hard deal Walker negotiated and how tough he is to do the right thing. He’s reading what the shake down losers say about Walker.
It is stupid of Trump to isolate Walker’s supporters. He’ll need them later whereas Jeb, Rubio and co. will never get that vote. Trump needs that vote.
If he loses the nomination, he’ll go third party and be like the flamboyant do nothing, Ventura and Purto (sp!) who got Bill Clinton elected. This time it will be hilterly.

Trump is the first Kardashian candidate, no doubt. At least he brings a lot more to the table than the next Kardashian candidate will, I guaranty that!
Trump is not a conservative. I know what your point is. Even Satan speaks truth to get his way. Right now Satan has these other men so tied up in political correctness and blackmail that the truth is lost. Now his boy Trump controls public truth. You can still use truth to beat back evil. Let Trump speak freely.
Trump gets people out of their comfort zone. That obviously chaps the hide of those that prefer the soft tyranny of McConnell & Boehner style “Republicanism”.
We need somebody to upset the apple cart or conservatives will lose again in 2016. Trump volunteered to do it. Walker & the rest of the conservative candidates were free to go on offense. They didn’t. Instead they chose to continue the tip toe to the election loser strategy. Can’t blame Trump for that.
Trump was born on third base, but as I have very clearly pointed out, he has turned that into winning the entire series. It shows a skill and determination that’s found in but one of a million.
Some want to ignore his tremendous successes, and that’s their prerogative.
The emotional investment they have in that blindness is simply showing.
Just another guy who is terrified Trump will really be the GOP nominee. :=)
