Scott Walkers budget reforms in Wisconsin are one of modern conservatisms greatest success stories. So why would Donald Trump attack them? Because 1) he is not a Republican, and 2) he is not a conservative. Trump went after Walker yesterday:
Wisconsin is in turmoil, Trump told a boisterous crowd at a rally in Iowa. He pointed to the states roads, schools and hospitals, which he said were all a disaster.
This is the kind of smear the Democrats perpetrate against Walker, but why would any Republican join them? This, too, is straight out of the left-wing playbook:
A guy like Bush, a guy like Walker, are controlled by the people who give them money, Trump said. They will be bombarded by their lobbyists who donated a lot.
Notice that Trump says nothing about Hillary Clinton being beholden to Wall Street donors, the baby-parts lobby, and so on. Why would any Republican parrot the Democrats attacks on his fellow Republicans? I dont think any Republican would, but Trump admits he is no Republican. This was perhaps his most revealing comment:
The other guys running, the Republicans they protect each other, Trump said early in his speech. Me, I dont care.
So the other guys running are the Republicans. Not Trump. Hes no Republican, by his own acknowledgement. Nor is he a conservative.
Some believe that Trump is an agent of the Clintons, and his end game is a third party candidacy that will deliver the White House to Hillary, the candidate he has long supported. This may be plausible, given Trumps history (including, but not limited to, his eight years as a registered Democrat) and the manner in which he mimics Hillarys attacks on Republicans. I think it more likely that Trump is acting independently for his own ego gratification. But if he does run as a third-party candidate, his motives wont matter. To the extent that he fools voters into thinking that he is a conservative, he will increase the likelihood of another four years of the Obama-Clinton disaster.
The Bushes play for keeps, don’t underestimate their viciousness.
Why would a conservative support abortion, gun control, unions, the ending of eminent domain, Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid with financial donations?
Yet he used to give her money and call her his friend. So now that she’s in the way of his ambition he’s seeing the light.
It's about who can stir the pot and maybe save the US. Many of us fear there's unstoppable violence and destruction at the bottom of the slippery slope the US is now racing down.
Micro-analyzing Trump's past doesn't change the fact that, already, he's the one who has (1) already given mad as hell people a voice and (2) destroyed some pols who deserve it.
What exactly does it mean any more to be a “Republican” (capital “R”), other than a mark on a registration card?
Seems to me that in today’s reality, the ones that everyone calls “RINOs” are actually the REAL Republicans, and the ones outside that big GOP tent, or on it’s fringes (e.g. Cruz), are that “in name only”.
I have no idea where this whole circus is heading, but I’m watching it for entertainment, if nothing else.
And the more that Trump stirs the pot, the better I like it.
Ok grouch, yours is the ONLY opinion that counts, and you are always right about everything...happy? Now, go kick your dog or something until you feel better. Book a show with Dr. Phil...maybe he can help you.

Much like the Pope, Trump is the most mis-translated person on the planet. Um, yeah. Thats the ticket. ;-)
Well, the left and center left (GOPe) thought the McCain jab was a good punch goaded by Dr. Frank Dunce. The veterans agreed with Trump. The GOPe is taking the good punches and looking stupid as their pre-scripted gag orders (don’t discuss the issues, attack Trump) become evermore obvious.
Why is it always these accounts with a 1998 creation date that turn in to suicide bombers for the left when election cycles roll around?
Ive been watching this happen for over a decade.
I thought about that too. Seems suicide is their solution.
Walker has responded to Obamas flood of illegals and his non-enforcement of laws by changing his positions. Obamas had that effect on a lot of people. Walker is now rated at B- by NumbersUSA
Trump is rated at C because he has stated he is for amnesty.
VERY GOOD — Amnesty Rating
VERY GOOD — Reducing Legal Immigration Rating
NO ACTION — Interior Enforcement Rating
B- — Overall Immigration Grade
Its union bias.
We are spending a couple of billions for critical interchange rebuilds that were deferred by the democratic predecessor. To do this and maintain normal levels of repair for the rest of the state we took on a little reasonable debt.
I dont even know what they are talking about with hospitals.
I’m sorry my grasp of reality is better than yours and way ahead of the curve of yours. I know, it ticks you off. I’m used to it.
Right, but to be intellectually honest - which so few people around here are nowadays - we have to notice and process it when Trump is to the left of the GOP e.
He’s been there several times recently....which is predictable....because he’s been there most of his life.
Yes, and as elhombrelibre has illustrated in post 6, uninformed.
You mean Trump didn’t donate to Hillary? And was he a Democrat? And did he support gun control, abortion, and unions?
Why go after Walker when there are still plenty of Democrat issues to attack. *Sigh* Yeah, I knew my gut Trump wasn’t fully going to work out. Still, let him keep talking, at least he’s bringing out issues like nobody else.
Republican = Priebus, Ryan, McConnell, Boehnor, McCarthy, McCain, Graham, Romney, Bush, King, Hatch, Alexander, Corker, Et al.
No thanks.
Define Republican because I not sure what that is any more. I do know what a true Conservative is.
