Scott Walkers budget reforms in Wisconsin are one of modern conservatisms greatest success stories. So why would Donald Trump attack them? Because 1) he is not a Republican, and 2) he is not a conservative. Trump went after Walker yesterday:
Wisconsin is in turmoil, Trump told a boisterous crowd at a rally in Iowa. He pointed to the states roads, schools and hospitals, which he said were all a disaster.
This is the kind of smear the Democrats perpetrate against Walker, but why would any Republican join them? This, too, is straight out of the left-wing playbook:
A guy like Bush, a guy like Walker, are controlled by the people who give them money, Trump said. They will be bombarded by their lobbyists who donated a lot.
Notice that Trump says nothing about Hillary Clinton being beholden to Wall Street donors, the baby-parts lobby, and so on. Why would any Republican parrot the Democrats attacks on his fellow Republicans? I dont think any Republican would, but Trump admits he is no Republican. This was perhaps his most revealing comment:
The other guys running, the Republicans they protect each other, Trump said early in his speech. Me, I dont care.
So the other guys running are the Republicans. Not Trump. Hes no Republican, by his own acknowledgement. Nor is he a conservative.
Some believe that Trump is an agent of the Clintons, and his end game is a third party candidacy that will deliver the White House to Hillary, the candidate he has long supported. This may be plausible, given Trumps history (including, but not limited to, his eight years as a registered Democrat) and the manner in which he mimics Hillarys attacks on Republicans. I think it more likely that Trump is acting independently for his own ego gratification. But if he does run as a third-party candidate, his motives wont matter. To the extent that he fools voters into thinking that he is a conservative, he will increase the likelihood of another four years of the Obama-Clinton disaster.
Trump's his own man. Does anyone seriously believe he's in it to save any of the pols that businessmen like him buy, whenever they need to?
Apply Occam's Razor. Most often, the most obvious answer is the correct one. Maybe Trump loves the US and is grateful for his success, and he is offering to use his skills to save the country.
Don’t try to confuse them with facts, they’re pushing a one hit wonder.
So the other guys running are the Republicans. Not Trump.
He said "the other guys running, the Republicans", to differentiate them from the other guys running, the Democrats. (And yes, I consider Hillary to be "a guy".)
In no way does that that statement mean that Trump is saying he isn't a Republican.
And what did Trump do and say before 5 minutes ago? Praise Hilary to the skies and give mega-bucks to her campaigns and to the Clinton Foundation.
And this was while he was advocating for higher taxes and socialized medicine, and giving the thumbs-up to 3rd-trimester abortions.
And this was while his companies were going bankrupt 4 times, and he was acting the crony capitalist that he is, e.g., attempting to use eminent domain to steal other people’s land.
I never thought there were so many ‘tards on FR who could be so easily taken in by this cheap conman who uses the oldest techniques in the world: Mirroring your “mad as Hell” emotions and attacking the people you hate.
That doesn’t excuse Trump from attacking Walker from THE LEFT. Yes, THE LEFT, using public sector union talking points.
Think WHY for a change....and not just WHO.
but attacking W. Bush and Scott Walker FROM THE LEFT proves he’s a Democrat, down deep, in his heart of hearts.....
Notice I said attacking them FROM THE LEFT.... not attacking them period....
today starts the appearance of little bits of egg on the face of el Rushbo.....
How many of the other candidates have tagged Hillary as a criminal?
It’s not like he’s using kid gloves on her as is implied in paragraph four.
My question is, why would anyone even “pretend” to be republican given the examples presented to us in government today?
The party has been hijacked by RINOs and converted to the GOPe.
With “leadership” like Boehner, McConnell, and “rence ‘n’ spin”, we should expect something special?
I’m all for a Conservative party, and not one that pulls a Fred Thompson, hip-hip-hooray, then bails out.
It’s becoming increasingly obvious that party labels mean nothing.
wake up dude...Trump is attacking FROM THE LEFT......not the right...THE LEFT. He’s WAY left of RINO’s on Walker
Not sure where you're going there....could be one of two opposite directions.
Also a desperate, pathetic loser.
How would it mean victory for hillary to say she’s the worst Secretary of State ever?
...
All Trump has to do is split the vote.
just wait until Trump spends $ 100 million in a national TV ad campaign with spots showing families of those raped and murdered by illegals ... with Jeb’s “act of love” comment scrolling across the bottom of the TV screen ...
I think you’re the one who needs waking up...I was addressing the comment about the Republican Party, didn’t say a word about Trump.
I’ve tried hard to get excited about Walker. But then I look at other Wisconsin “conservatives” like Priebus and Ryan. Not a good track record there. More of the same from Walker? No thanks.
your reason is pitifully flawed
it shows strong indications of no reasoning ability at all
if that is the best you can do, it will be less dangerous if you just quit thinking altogether
In other words, you are totally off topic, totally out of context, totally to the left of the Republican Party - good to know who I"m talking with.....
Trumps approach reminds me of a good prize fighter who initially stalks his opponent, lands several good jabs and continues on with a concentrated attack, always on the offense. The real problem with that approach is that his opponent only needs to land one or two really good punches to put him down for the count. I would not sell ANY of Trumps opponents short as they too, try to win that championship belt and take the prize away from him.
