DONALD TRUMP ENDORSES AMNESTY FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS [DISAPPOINTING, BUT NOT SURPRISING]
Frontpage Mag ^ | 07/26/2015 | Daniel Greenfield

Disappointing, but not surprising.

The depressing reality though that is that most of the Republican field has endorsed amnesty in one form or another. So this isn't much of a surprise. Trump is using his own vocabulary, but he's echoing the same amnesty talking points you could hear from Marco Rubio... or Barack Obama.

During Friday's interview, Trump said the U.S. should take a two-step approach to the 11 million undocumented immigrants currently living in the country.

"Well, the first thing we do is take the bad ones — of which there are, unfortunately, quite a few," said Trump, who owns three New Jersey golf courses and once owned three Atlantic City casinos. "We take the bad ones and get 'em the hell out. We get 'em out."

But he said the country should take a different approach with "the other ones" — i.e., undocumented immigrants who have "done a good job" since arriving in the U.S.

"I'm a very big believer in the merit system," Trump said. "I have to tell you: Some of these people have been here, they've done a good job. You know, in some cases, sadly, they've been living under the shadows. ... If somebody's been outstanding, we try and work something out.

"But before we do anything, we have to secure the border because the border is like having no border," he added.

I'm sure some people will be tempted to cheer this, but compare it to Obama's own amnesty executive order.

These executive actions crack down on illegal immigration at the border, prioritize deporting felons not families, and require certain undocumented immigrants to pass a criminal background check and pay their fair share of taxes as they register to temporarily stay in the U.S. without fear of deportation.

Cracking Down on Illegal Immigration at the Border:  The President’s actions increase the chances that anyone attempting to cross the border illegally will be caught and sent back. Continuing the surge of resources that effectively reduced the number of unaccompanied children crossing the border illegally this summer, the President’s actions will also centralize border security command-and-control to continue to crack down on illegal immigration.

Deporting Felons, Not Families: The President’s actions focus on the deportation of people who threaten national security and public safety. He has directed immigration enforcement to place anyone suspected of terrorism, violent criminals, gang members, and recent border crossers at the top of the deportation priority list.

Deporting the "bad people" first is already an Obama talking point. People may think they can trust Trump, but not Obama or any of the Republicans, but like them, Trump frontloaded rhetoric about enforcement while keeping the amnesty out back.

And "secure the border first" has been the talking point of every Republican amnesty proponent.

Marco Rubio still supports legal status and a slow road to citizenship for millions of undocumented immigrants, but now says the government must convince Americans the border is secure before taking those steps.

Trump had already indicated support for amnesty earlier, now he's being clearer about it.

This is in line with what CNN’s Chris Moody reported Trump saying during a press conference in Chicago at the end of June. When asked what he would do about the illegal immigrants already residing in the country once the border was secured, Trump replied, “give them a path,” according to Moody.

When The Daily Caller sought clarification at the time from the Trump campaign, a senior adviser replied with a circuitous answer that emphasized that Trump wanted to secure the border and didn’t believe in “amnesty,” but wouldn’t explicitly reject a pathway to legalization.

Nobody likes the A-word, including Rubio and Ryan who spent the better part of a year arguing that legalizing illegal aliens isn't amnesty if they have to pay a fine. Even Obama made that argument.

The next step would be to get Trump to lay out criteria for who gets to stay and how many of them it would apply to, but good luck getting an answer.

Trump has said time and again the border has to be secure before any talk of what to do with the billion or so in the country can proceed.

You are correct about the political will, The technology exists. Sanctuary cities are a primary example of nullification without any consequences. Those of us who have been working on this issue for many years have been acutely aware of it. The fact that Trump was able to bring to the fore is great. But Congress has not passed a very good bill and Obama will veto it anyway. Nothing will be done.

1. Close the borders.

2. Get rid of all the convicted felons etc.

3. Get rid of sanctuary cities.

4. An illegal commits a crime, deport his ass immediately.

5. Check ID for every service, INCLUDING SCHOOLS AND HOSPITALS. Other than emergency lifesaving, do not give benefits to illegals.

Once all the above is done, the ones who stay are the good, hard working people who stay below the radar. They cannot bring their families here unless they go through legal channels. They can’t go home or they can’t get back in. So they will be more American and eventually their generation will die off. Future generations of immigrants should be from all over the world, not just Mexico and Central America.

It’s a hit piece!!!!! It’s targeting Trump while at the very same time ignoring all the other Republican candidates.

Everyone knows Trump has the hardest stance on immigration compared to the other Republican canididiates.

Front Page is pretending Trump is to the left of the other Republican candidates like Walker, Rubio or Bush. That’s a filthy LIE by desperate rats.

It’s desperate move by the other Republica candidates. This hypocrisy of Front Page is laughable.

Said very well. This is an interesting year. Trump has been the only one spelling it out. Well, maybe Cruz also.

Future generations of immigrants should be from all over the world, not just Mexico and Central America.

They are coming from elsewhere--just not from Europe. They are coming from the Third World changing the demgraphics of the US along with electoral changes that will make the Dems the permanent majority party. By 2019 half of the children 18 and under will be minorities as defined by the USG and by 2043 non-Hispanic whites will be less than half of the population down from 89% in 1970. India and China will surpass Mexico.

"The only real comprehensive immigration reform we really need is enforcing the existing laws on the books. Hammer the businesses who are hiring them, remove the ‘contractor exception’ - oh, we didn't know, we just hired this contractor, see, who said he'd get whomever we needed, oh, and they'll need someone who speaks Spanish to interpret for them. Then go after the money - taxes on wiring of cash or money orders to Mexico (and other countries which have a poor record of controlling their people from entering the US illegally), RICO seizures of those who are housing illegals or otherwise aiding them...

Pretty dang quick, the issue will settle itself - those who want to be US citizens will be left, while a good many who are here on an extended free jobs program will go home."

The problem with your solution is that it's too straightforward and logical!(sarc)

The point is Front Page wants to Bull $hit their readers and pretend the other Republican candidates are to the right of Trump on illegal immigration.

Nothing could be further from the truth and everybody knows it......

This is nothing but a hit piece by you desperate Walker/Rubio/Jeb supporters.

You forget one thing -— CHILDREN. What if they have children BORN in the USA?

These kids are BY LAW, American Citizens. Unless this law is changed, you’re going to have a problem deporting the mother or father unless you force the American kid to get out as well.

If you don’t reduce legal immigration, it really doesn’t matter what you do at the border. America will be lost thru the ballot box.

I know, what you said describes him perfectly . He says exactly what people want to hear but his history is quite a different story. My uncle says Trump gave Hitlery $100K, I have to look that up to confirm. He can claim it was merely business, but I don’t know...If he was a true conservative giving that b*tch a single dime is the absolute LAST thing I would ever do, business or not. She did absolutely nothing when she was Senator of New York, she was out of state 99% of the time going on a book tour or cashing in on speeches, she basically abandoned the job just like she abandoned her job as Secretary of state which led to the death of 4 Americans in Benghazi, so I don’t know how she could affect Trumps business in any way. She was never around!

Last time I checked it was Trump that brought immigration into the race. No other candidate dared to mention it. After all that would be “politically incorrect” right???

But now you want me to believe your candidate is to the right of Trump when it comes to immigration?

Oh well this link just settles it..... (sarcasm off).

Do you actually think for yourself or do you let others, with a ludicrous grading system do your thinking for you?

You and this web site have to be the only people that actually believe Walker or anyone else of the Republican candidates are to the the right of Trump on immigration.

What’s next your candidate is less politically correct than Trump????

Nice try....

there is some question as to whether the law that is said to allow such children citizenship actually can.

it was not written with that intent as I understand it.

Perhaps another freeper with a better grip on the original intent can help out with this one
