Donald Trump on Saturday took shots at Governor Scott Walker of Wisconsin, the only Republican in a field of 16 who is leading the business mogul in Iowa polls.
Trump has surged in such polls nationwide, during a campaign in which he has caused controversy over immigration and with a widely condemned attack on the Vietnam war record of Senator John McCain.
On Saturday, Trump addressed a rally in Oskaloosa, Iowa from which his campaign had barred the Des Moines Register newspaper, which published a critical editorial about him. At the rally, he repeated several traditionally Democratic talking points in his argument against Walker, citing the governors record on infrastructure, education and healthcare among the reasons that he was unfit to be president.
Referring to a Walker supporters comment that Trump was a dumb-dumb, Trump said: Today I read this horrible statement from a fundraiser about Trump, and I said, Oh finally, I can attack, finally.
Wisconsins doing terribly, Trump said. First of all, its in turmoil, the roads are a disaster.
He continued: They projected a $1bn surplus, and it turns out to be a deficit of $2.2bn, and money all over the place, the schools are a disaster, and theyre fighting like crazy because theres no money for the schools, the hospitals and education is a disaster, and he was totally in support of [controversial education policy] Common Core.
The $2.2bn deficit cited by Trump actually refers to a pre-budget estimate of tax revenue compared with budget requests from Wisconsin state agencies, PolitiFact Wisconsin reported. Walker calculated a $3.6bn deficit when he took office, in order to justify cuts to public education and to limit unions bargaining power.
The state agency that calculates the pre-budget estimate found a $2.2bn shortfall in Wisconsins most recent budget cycle, (snip)

*good guy
What “sham?”
“And Trump IS the Gipper, right?”
How dare you compare The Holy Donald with mere mortals. The Hoy Donald is GOD.
You talking about the guy who repaid donors out of some sort of economic development commission???
They have remarkably similar academic histories. I wonder how often Ivy League schools take junior transfers from mediocre colleges. I would imagine it is quite rare and almost always involves affirmative action (and likely Marxist connections) or Daddy’s money and influence.
I have been uneasy with Flip Flopper Walker, its never a good sign for a Republican.
Walker was OK with Amnesty now he isn’t, that sounds like BOOBIO Marco. Walker backed many of Jebs Common Core causes.
Yeah the Unions got their heads handed to them, but we all know if Walker is the GOP candidate the UNIONS will Mortgage the store to keep him out of the White House.
Trump is just responding to all the hate coming his way and who here wouldn’t respond like Trump if they had his money.
I grew up in New York, Trump is as smart as he brags.
If its true its not bragging.
“...and he (Walker) was totally in support of Common Core.”
Didn’t know that about Walker...he’s FINISHED.
Anyone thinking of supporting Walker should look up his top ‘adviser’ (not sure if he’s gay). And that would be BRAD DAYSPRING.
The Republican candidates need to stay focused on the Nation’s pigressive enemies. Infighting is not helpful.
“Walker is not going to bend the knee over what a fund-raiser said. He is going to move on with his campaign. “
He may want to consider changing that style, if his Republican Party handlers let him. Trump has no intention of playing along.
He turned $300 million into $10 billion. That’s not “rags-to-riches” but it’s not a normal Trustafarian either.
I meant to imply that he wasn’t a dumdum, not that he was. I perhaps shouldn’t talk as I did undergrad work at a fairly prestigious school, and didn’t manage to make a whole lot out of it.
I think referring to Walker BEFORE he entered national politics doesn’t apply here. The steps he’s taken since becoming a presidential candidate, particularly hiring BRAD DAYSPRING, makes it clear that he’s not controlling things anymore, but rather doing what he feels he must do to raise the kind of money needed for the office.
Sad, I also LOVED seeing him battle and win against the unions, and for a time he was my #2 guy (behind Cruz), but he has gotten too far in bed with The Establishment for me to continue supporting him.
Point taken. Walker is trying to keep one in foot in both sides. I figured the Walker would be the choice if we want to avoid the upcoming intra-party schism for one more cycle, just to keep the Dems out. It looks like Boehner/McConnell are forcing our hand early, though.
I still want a good backup in case Cruz doesn’t get it. Trump (Socialized Medicine) is not it.
Thanks for respecting my opinion (pretty rare here). There are a lot of issues that Trump will have to address, it will be interesting to see how he comes down on them. So far he’s scoring near-perfect.
Mr. Trump, are ANY of your employees in a union, if so, why. Are any of your employees illegal aliens.....if so, why. Do any of the myriad of companies that you contract construction sites with employ union workers or illegal aliens.....if so, why.
Oh please, the Pope and all the Cardinals were busy...what do you want??????????? Gope staff.....PATHETIC
