The Obama administration is preparing to release convicted Israeli spy Jonathan Pollard, according to U.S. officials, some of whom hope the move will smooth relations with Israel in the wake of the Iran nuclear deal.
Such a move would end a decadeslong fight over Mr. Pollard, who was arrested on charges of spying for Israel in 1985 and later sentenced to life in prison. The case has long been a source of tension between the U.S. and Israel, which has argued that a life sentence for spying on behalf of a close U.S. partner is too harsh. For decades, Israel has sought Mr. Pollard’s early release only to be rejected by the U.S.

Not groveling at all. It is a carrot held out until November so the Iranians get the Russian and U.S. Defense systems in place to prevent Israel from hitting Iranian nukes. It is an attempt to put political pressure on Netanyahu in Israel. All this does is prove how much they fear an Israeli strike.
Typical Obama move. A unilateral action that will gain nothing for the United States. Obama does everything because he believes it will make him ‘look good’. In reality, it makes him look like a putz.
If Obama were consistent he wouldn’t want this, because being Islamic he would not want to look like Israel’s lackey.
But Obama just hates America so much he will humiliate it any way he can.

Obama will then once again announce he is Israel’s best friend they ever had in the white house.
