About three quarters of Republican early-state insiders say they believe Donald Trump has peaked — but many acknowledge that may also be wishful thinking.
That’s the assessment from this week’s POLITICO Caucus, our weekly bipartisan survey of the top operatives, strategists and activists in Iowa and New Hampshire.
The controversial real estate mogul and GOP presidential candidate provoked some caucus insiders into offering expletives and other colorful language when asked whether Trump has hit his ceiling.
“The McCain smear and giving out Graham’s cellphone? What an asshole,” vented a New Hampshire Republican, who says Trump has peaked. “Trumpism does not represent some deeper sentiment within the party, nor has he tapped into something a more conventional candidate can now co-opt. His candidacy has as much substance and meaning as cotton candy. I didn’t like him before. Now I loathe him.”
An Iowa Republican said, “yes,” when asked whether Trump has hit his zenith, but clarified, “I’d like to think so. But who the hell really knows anymore?”
The insiders weighed in following another week in which Trump dominated political coverage.

They don’t get it. Trump is in a political “sweet spot” right now & he’s untouchable. The future will tell if he can ride this wave into the WH, but for now he’s not going anywhere.

Trump is (and WAS) right about George Bush.
At the end, he was down to about 30% in the polls because his BASE was pissed.
Bush signed off on a top of bad economic crap from congress. WE were screaming about it. That’s when we lost all hope in him.
Under this corrupted leadership, did the New Hampshire Republican mention they all stood by and watched American's phone#s, all background data, financial, SSN's all get hacked, stolen, monitored, spied on and uploaded by the Communist Chinese?
And we're supposed to be be concerned about spoiled Lindsey Graham's stinking phone number?
The GOP is in free-fall. The country is in free-fall. Heck, the Western nations are in various states of cultural collapse. What we are experiencing may have no fix....but we can’t keep going on with effete frauds like Rubio, Graham & the current GOP leadership. Chaos is better IMO than what we have seen.

In the first Debate, I predict that least ten other Contenders will try to attack Trump as a Block.
I think it will be a fatal mistake for them. When they act like Bullies, which is what they accuse Trump of being, they will anger many People by using Ambush tactics.
It’s like the Indians attacking the Army Column with overwhelming numbers until they are met by the Gatling Guns hidden in the Wagons.
Trump can pull off the Bully label when he needs to, the other Losers will fall short.

Politico northeastern repubbies telling us about insiders? That’s rich.
Perot wasn’t fat.
He didn’t come that close, he got under 19% of the national popular vote. Bush got nearly as much. Perot won no states at all, and merely ensured that Clinton won.
Cruz won’t do that, regardless of how ticked he is at the Republicrat leadership - it would kill his career.
