About three quarters of Republican early-state insiders say they believe Donald Trump has peaked but many acknowledge that may also be wishful thinking.
Thats the assessment from this weeks POLITICO Caucus, our weekly bipartisan survey of the top operatives, strategists and activists in Iowa and New Hampshire.
The controversial real estate mogul and GOP presidential candidate provoked some caucus insiders into offering expletives and other colorful language when asked whether Trump has hit his ceiling.
The McCain smear and giving out Grahams cellphone? What an asshole, vented a New Hampshire Republican, who says Trump has peaked. Trumpism does not represent some deeper sentiment within the party, nor has he tapped into something a more conventional candidate can now co-opt. His candidacy has as much substance and meaning as cotton candy. I didnt like him before. Now I loathe him.
An Iowa Republican said, yes, when asked whether Trump has hit his zenith, but clarified, Id like to think so. But who the hell really knows anymore?
The insiders weighed in following another week in which Trump dominated political coverage.

It’s likely he’ll land some zingers in it.
Remember he doesn’t need to be politic, he is willing to take or leave being president. He’s here to tell some truths that almost nobody else is telling.
Also, the Republican Base has low opinion of the Republican Party because the Repub leadership hates them, possibly even more than the Democrats do.
And the Base is tired of being despised by its own Party leaders.
...now Jeb Bush, THERE’S a guy with unlimited upside potential! /SARCsarcsarcsarcsarc
Politico talks to professional political hacks. In the Republican Party, they are almost exclusively aligned with the establishment wing. Of course they want Trump to go away.
Trump’s best function is to say things that need to be said that other candidates are unwilling to say. When they wake up to the dissatisfaction among their constituents and begin to behave like conservatives, then Trump may fade, but not yet.
In a field of 16, 25% and a ten point lead makes him the nominee.
Just wait until the first debate when Trump/Cruz stand shoulder to shoulder to announce they are leading a third party to take back our America.
Think about that, picture that. You talk about press coverage.
Looks like no one is polling the “insiders” then does it.
Trump will continue to do well until the GOPe manage to silence him.
Trump appeals to the ordinary person....but not the GOPe who despise the ordinary person and work for Obama and the Chamber of Commerce.
The D is just getting warmed up. If I were the BP Union leaders I would be looking over shoulder. Dealing with Real estate in NYC and AC he’s accustomed to dealing with the mob. He knows their weaknesses and has negotiated with the best. Or worse of them.
If the people of BP contacted Trump because their attempts to close border were being thwarted by higher ups Katey bar the door!
He’s getting his brand and message out there and the silent majority like it.
Donald Derangement Syndrome symptom #20 Thinking he has peaked, when there is no evidence that he has.
I doubt it. He will seem more approachable and more likable as time goes by.
If the GOPe kicks Trump into doing a 3rd Party run, they cut their own throats. Too many Republicans are tired of being betrayed by the spineless, lying Repub elected reps.
These “insiders” are so inside themselves, n-snide too boot!
1. That won't happen.
2. If it did, that ticket (or ANY 3rd party ticket) will lose, badly, while simultaneously guaranteeing that the Dem nominee becomes the next President.
Cruz knows this, and I believe that Trump has backed off from his 3rd party threats because he's thought about it for more than 2 seconds and came to the same conclusion.
About three quarters of RINO Republican early-state prostitutes consultants say they believe Donald Trump has peaked........but they admit someone paid them to say this as the polls indicate the opposite.
There fixed it.
He’s peaked more times than Arafat died.
Has Jeb “flacid” Boosh peaked yet, oh great insiders??
Whats that?? I CANT HEAAAR YOUU
25% is huge in a field of 16. The real question is where will the supporters of other caididates move once the lowest ranked ones start dropping out.
Wishful thinking on the part of the ruling class.
