MTV was fine when it was about music. Then it went into lefty political causes, supposed reality shows and assorted trash programming. The airwaves are inundated with junk and people like me just won't watch.
Thank God for DVDs and Netflix.

I won't bemoan the demise of MTV or Nickelodeon, but Spike has an occasional watchable movie.
Eh, c'est la vie I reckon.

They didnt adapt with the times
At first they did music videos - it was like TV radio combines
Now you can watch anything you want online
They needed to become the CNN of music (or even better, the Fox News)
but who knows what they have... i haven’t watched them (at all) in 10 years AT LEAST

"Some of them even were a short movie illustrating the song..."
You wouldn't believe the number of songs that I grew to enjoy because of some of the unique and imaginative videos that showcased them.
Bop 'til you drop - Rick Springfield
Rock the Casbah - The Clash
Thriller - Michael Jackson
Beat it - Michael Jackson
Sleeping Sun - Nightwish
The End of All Hope - Nightwish
Radioactive - Imagine Dragons
Whenever I listen to those, and other songs with great accompanying videos, those images play in my mind again. What a waste of what used to be a great format ...

I have good memories of it too.
Starting with Video Killed the Radio Star.

We have a winner. That was about 25 years ago.
I remember when it happened. I was thinking ‘What is this garbage?’.
Today I think ‘What is this garbage?’.
