Republican lawmakers but some influential Democrats as well were angry Monday about the Obama administration's decision to have the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) vote on the Iran nuclear deal before Congress has had a chance to accept or reject it.
The unanimous UNSC vote in favor of the Iran Monday deal came just hours after the State Department formally sent the agreement to Congress to be reviewed. Rep. Eliot Engel (NY), the top Democrat on the Foreign Affairs Committee, joined panel Chairman Ed Royce (R-Calif) in a statement that said they were disappointed that the UNSC voted before Congress was able to fully review and act on this agreement.
Regardless of this mornings outcome, Congress will continue to play its role, they added. Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) who last week sent a letter along with the committees top Democrat, Sen. Ben Cardin (Md.), asking President Obama to postpone the UN vote also criticized Mondays move.
It is inappropriate to commit the United States to meet certain international obligations without even knowing if Congress and the American people approve or disapprove of the Iran agreement, Corker said. During the review period, members on both sides of the aisle will evaluate the agreement carefully, press the administration for answers and then vote their conscience.

Statism is not a new political doctrine; the seeds of it can be found taking root even in the pages of Scripture, as we shall see. But statism has always proven an illusory dream and a certain path to national implosion. It is important that believers in Jesus Christ be able to recognize tendencies toward statism, and to resist them, for all forms of religious faith sit atop the statist hit-list as forms of resistance to the statist agenda which must be negated, if not neutered or eliminated all together.
Proverbs 29:2 When the righteous are in authority , the people rejoice : but when the wicked beareth rule , the people mourn.
Obama is king and they have to agree with whatever he says. He knows Boner will have a drink and start to cry.
It’s merely the next step. The left is expert at continuing to push the boundaries of their power.
The media will either ignore or support, and the American public will continue to slumber.
There is no fixing this. We are on the path to a socialist/communist takeover, and the resultant meltdown.
Keep your powder dry.
So they make a little noise to pacify the voters and then they just rubber stamp it.
Aren’t these all the same Senators that voted to surrender their power to approve treaties?
Now they don’t it so much?
We have a Congress ?
Where ?
Is the next step crossing the Rubicon?
Then, they too will be complicit in Treason and deserved of hanging.
So they make a little noise to pacify the voters and then they just rubber stamp it.
That’s exactly how they do it.
I firmly believe that they and their families have been threatened. They can make noises and put on a front to placate the people but they don’t dare cross the line.
I hope all the older people who voted for Obama live to get a good hard taste of misery.
You don’t seem to care. They only want to please the dictator.
Blackmail determines the outcome. Boner & McTurtle are OWNED by 0dungheap. Even SCOTUS isn’t immune.
My understanding is that Congress set this up so that, instead of requiring 67 votes to approve the deal it will take 67 votes to reject the deal. If Obama vetoes the rejection, then it takes 67 votes to override the veto.
There are no principled Democrats who will vote against ratification/veto. A few RINOs will vote for ratification as well. It is pure irony that President-Nobel-Peace-Prize will be responsible for the eventual incineration of potentially millions of people. I suspect his take will be, “Well that’s a lot less burden on the planet with them gone.”
Nonsense......Republican Failure Theater....with obligatory letter of “concern”.
Such liars.
Sorry. I meant to say “they don’t seem to care.”
“Is the next step crossing the Rubicon?”
I think that it will be a slow process. Eventually the left will get whatever they want, whenever they want it, (we’re close to that now). Leftist policies always lead to decline and collapse. It will be trying times for my kids, not sure I’ll be around for all of it.
That's it. Dems don't care about Israel.
O’Malley had to apologize for even daring to say. “ALL lives matter”... What a fool, To 'true believer' democrats ONLY black thugs matter. Democrats don't care about the weekly slaughter in Chicago - or the unending deaths in Detroit.
And they sure as hell don't care about Israel...
It's NOT bipartisan - it's a FEW Democrats - damn few - who care about Israel. Most dems would sell out to Arab money in a New York minute.
The rule of law is what we’re fighting for...
I agree. However, it seems as though the Republicants are bought and sold before they even get their office in DC...
Lots of fake outrage going on.
