First the Wall Street Journal editorial board called on conservative media to buck up and ditch Donald Trump.
Then late Monday, Iowa's largest newspaper, The Des Moines Register called on Trump to just drop out of the race.
-snip-
Trump didn't take the Register's editorial lightly. On Tuesday, he released a lengthy statement calling the editorial "sophomoric" and pointing out that a recent poll had him leading the GOP field.
"As one of the most liberal newspapers in the United States, the poll results were just too much for them to bear. The Des Moines Register has lost much circulation, advertising, and power over the last number of years. They will do anything for a headline, and this poorly written "non-endorsement" got them some desperately needed ink," Trump wrote, adding that the paper hasn't been covering him fairly. "They would rarely write the facts or report what really took place. They never captured the energy of each event and it is a constant battle with them by my representatives to get an accurate count of the large crowds I draw."

Ughhhh... okay.
I think it would be cool strategy for Trump to announce that he is going to issue an apology. After JournaLists are gathered, he could start with an apology to sophomores and work up from there.
She has a certain basset hound quality to her.
LOLOLOL.
Of course!
She’s for Hillary all the way!
Yep...that was a big supposition on my part.;-)
Wait a minute. She looks like Chelsea’s sister.
It takes an arrogant, self-important jerk, or a bunch of arrogant, self-important jerks, to be so full of themselves that they think they are in a position to say someone should withdraw from the race, especially the one leading the field.
Who do they think they are?
Well so far we have the Des Moines Register, La Raza Rick Perry and Mitt Rubio all calling for Trump to withdraw. Birds of the feather...
I have to say that I enjoy seeing someone take on, and call out, the media. I wish more of the Conservative candidates and ALL Republicans would start doing the same thing.
NOTHING, absolutely NOTHING, is gained trying to placate them.
The outgoing Register editor Rick Green overruled his editorial board and staffers to endorse Romney. Rick Green is gone now, replaced by a vaguely Democrat Gannett corporate lackey who will not make the same mistake.
Bullshit. I know many vets who despise McCain for the fraud that he is and love Trump.
There are hearings on Sanctuary cities today.
That alone should make people sit up and take notice of him.
He may never be president. Strangely enough, he’s already done more for the nation that Obama.
Look at his response to the Leftist attacks. The man gets it.
I recognize his brashness and past things I don’t care for.
There’s something up with this guy, and he’s not letting go.
Well, the awful fact is that most of “news” reporting in the United States is sophomoric. The reporters, news readers, etc. write and talk like they are still in high school. And the American people have been so dumbed down they accept it all as the truth.
Dang, she is taking some serious drugs.
It may be good, it may be bad-I am so cynical that I am hoping he’s not some kind of stalking horse to suck the air from Cruz’s campaign-but all I can do for now is enjoy the show.
To have the big government lovers in Iowa (think ethanol and farm subsidies) and the secular NH voters choosing the GOP’s nominee assures that the establishment candidate will always get a strong start. To avoid this, there should be the same primary date for all states.
Do you realize the same media that trashes Trump today for not serving back then, was back then praising anti-war protesters, those that did the ‘honorable thing’ going to Candada, and spitting on our returning members of the military?
I remember those days. I don’t know of a single young man who wasn’t looking for a way to avoid Vietnam.
It was plain as the nose on your face our Congress didn’t want to win. They didn’t care one bit about our men over there. John Kerry was their type of hero.
If Johnson got us in and couldn’t win it, they weren’t going to let anyone else do it.
I hated what the Democrats represented in those days so much, I never voted for a single one of them.
Trumps ok in my book.
I can remember when that would have been considered impossible, but "The Newspaper Iowa Depends Upon" managed to do it. It has been almost three decades since I have actually read an edition of the Register, but places like FR provide me an occasional laugh at "Pravda on the Des Moines."
Trump is exactly on target when he calls that rag sophomoric and makes his points.
Mr. niteowl77
Iowa picked Santorum and Huckabee in the last two cycles. Who did your state primary pick in the last two cycles?
OMG....that photo says it all. By the obligatory lank hair, I’d guess a strong supporter of Hillary.
She looks like Chelsea’s ugly sister.
