House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) proposed lowering the voting age to 16 years old or 17 years old.
To achieve what we want to do for the middle class, for kids in school, for immigration reform, for all these things, we must change our politics. We must reduce the role of money in politics. We must dare to do that and so we have a dare, disclose, where is this money coming from, this dark money? Amend the Constitution to overturn Citizens United. Lets get out there and mobilize and do it. Reform our campaign system to empower small donors and empower voters with a renewed and strengthened Voting Rights Act, removing obstacles of participation, Pelosi said at the Make the Progress summit sponsored by the Center for American Progress.
Im for and Im interested in hearing your thoughts, and I know youll let me know for lowering the voting age to high school age, whether its 16 or 17 or, because when kids are in school theyre so interested, theyre so engaged, and we would like them to be ready at least to register before they leave.

I say anybody over 18 that files a Federal Tax return should get to vote.
And the unintended consequences of what Pelosi is suggesting would give more voting influence to families. Once the Progressives remember that intact families are their bane, they’ll drop this idea.

House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) proposed lowering the voting age to 16 years old or 17 years oldOoh starting to get down to the average maturity of democratic voters. Why don't we just go down to fetuses. Oh wait I forgot about that little problem.

That’s what I was thinking....the whole reason for lowering the age to 18 was due to the draft. Now that’s over let’s put it back up to 21.

Why stop there? Completely do away with the voting age and citizenship. It’s not as if 35 yos are any smarter or better informed than 8 yos when they enter the voting booth. Heck, let cats, dogs and all other species vote.

They can practice this shit in California - see how it turns out there first.
The problem is that local, state, and national votes all appear on the same ballot.

Argentina has done this.
Yeah. THAT worked out well.

So... we are going to trust people who could not put Afghanistan on a map if their life depended on it, to elect our government? What could possible go wrong with that?
W need to lower the drinking age back down to 18 and raise the voting age back up to 21, with an exception for active duty military who should be able to vote.

Voting no longer matters. It’s clear that we only have one political party: the Chamber of Commerce Party. And if any group bucks the system enough to pass meaningful legislation, the courts will rule it unconstitutional—and perhaps make support for it a hate crime. Let one-year-olds from Iran vote in our faux elections. Who cares?

So... we are going to trust people who could not put Afghanistan on a map if their life depended on it, to elect our government? As it is now, I'd bet 50% of voters couldn't not point out Afghanistan on a map. Texas either.

There should be an IQ test to vote. 100 or higher. That would eliminate most democrat voters.

Fine.
Lower the drinking age to same, along with “Class III” weapons ownership.
If you trust ‘em with the ballot box, trust ‘em with the 6-pack and cartridge box.
If you don’t with one, no reason to trust ‘em with the others.

Setting the stage for killing the GOP - go for it Nan. /s
The following quotation has been attributed to Tytler, although it has also been occasionally attributed to Alexis de Tocqueville:
A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.
I would argue that one is born a liberal. Later when you grow up and learn that you need to accept responsibility for your own actions - rather then your Mommy feeding you and changing your diapers - you grow into Conservatism. 16 year old are automatically Liberal it is the default position.

Pelosi is worried she won’t be able to trick enough adults to vote for her and her co=conspirators in the international IslamoNazi ‘destroy America’ movement
so...get the children to vote!
makes perfect sense, where’s the beef?
