Can one forgive oneself? Or who thinks of oneself as the forgiver?

Pray for TRUMP to surround himself with Godly counsel.

Yeah but Repub-Es are greater than God and Trump must bow down to them like the rest of us and kiss the ring.

It makes sense. If you are the center of things, whom do you ask for forgiveness?
If your own desires are the law, all you have to regret are failures to get what you want.

To be fair, Norman Vincent Peale was a complete huckster.
This response explains a lot.

"If I do something wrong, I think I just try to make it right," Trump said. "I don't bring God into that picture. I don't. "When we go into church and when I drink my little wine, which is about the only wine I drink, and have my little cracker I guess that is a form of asking for forgiveness. I do that as often as possible because I feel cleansed, OK? "But, to me, that is important," Trump said. "In terms of officially, I could tell you absolutely. I don't think in terms of that. I think in terms of, 'Let's go on and let's make it right.'" Unfortunately, this completely contradicts the whole purpose of Christ. Jews were bound by the Law and had to atone for their sins, Christ came so that they (and we) no longer have too. The ritual of taking wine and a cracker doesn't absolve you of your sins, they can only be forgiven when you ask Christ for forgiveness. Sadly, Trump doesn't seem to have ever grasped that.

Donald Trump said Saturday that "I am not sure that I have" ever asked God for forgiveness, telling the 2015 Iowa Family Leadership Summit that "I just go on and try to do a better job from there. If this is true I sincerely pity the man. He is in desperate need of some spiritual counseling.

Communion (Eucharist) is not just the elements (bread and wine). The service also includes confession. People would read what they are saying.

What we need is a president who is strong in his faith, like Jimma Carter. Bill Clinton was a good Christian president, too. I still remember him yukkin’ it up at Ron Brown’s funeral with heretic preacher Tony Campolo at this side. And later, heading off to church with his big bible under his arm right after staining the dress of an intern young enough to be his daughter. I’d never vote for a someone who not strong in his faith like those guys. / sarc.

I’m surprised he’s not an atheist. But really, I don’t give a $hit.

I don’t either. But I change my ways and don’t do it again.
