Diplomatic ties between Havana and Washington have been restored after Cuba officially reopened its embassy in the US capital after 54 years. The two nations had severed ties in 1960.
Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez attended the flag-hoisting ceremony in the US capital on Monday, calling the diplomatic thaw “an opportunity … to establish new bilateral relations, quite different from whatever existed in the past.”
The Cuban flag was hoisted over Havana’s embassy in the US, known only as the Cuban Interests Section prior to the formal resumption of diplomatic relations on Monday. DW TV’s correspondent in Washington, Richard Walker, was at the event. …

We’re at that uncomfortable point where it’s too late to work within the system and too early to start shooting. Playing by the rules has not worked for us. We need new rules.
What has failed us is mass democracy. Not something our Founding Fathers wanted.
The simple truth is this: You cannot have a limited government republic and a popular mass democracy. The voters will simply vote for themselves bigger government and higher taxes on others to pay for it.
That’s why when our republic was first set up only property owners could vote in federal elections, why the Electoral College was created to elected the president, why US Senators were elected by state legislators, not popular vote.

As an irony of history the words of Fidel Castro in May 2001 were prophetic, in the short period of 14 years, and at the time, we are witnessing an American president that dishonored the United States by unconditionally surrender to the two main sponsors of terrorist in the world, Iran and Cuba. Thanks to Obama’s treason, the American taxpayers will play the role of sugar daddy to keep afloat the Cuban Stalinist regime, a role played before by the Soviet Union and Venezuela that brought both of them to their bankruptcy.
