The UN Security Council on Monday unanimously adopted a resolution endorsing the Iran nuclear deal and paving the way to lifting longstanding sanctions on the Islamic Republic.
The 15-0 approval of the Iran nuclear deal clears one of the largest hurdles for the landmark pact, which will now go before the US Congress where it may face an uphill battle for confirmation.
The UN vote came shortly after the European Union approved the nuclear deal, okaying the pact between the five permanent members of the Security Council plus Germany and Iran that lifts punishing economic sanctions on Tehran in exchange for temporary curbs on nuclear activity.
Ambassadors from the so-called P5+1 touted the deal in a Security Council debate following the vote.
US Ambassador Samantha Power said the nuclear deal doesnt change the United States profound concern about human rights violations committed by the Iranian government or about the instability Iran fuels beyond its nuclear program, from its support for terrorist proxies to repeated threats against Israel to its other destabilizing activities in the region.
She urged Iran to release three unjustly imprisoned Americans and to determine the whereabouts of Robert Levinson, a former FBI agent who vanished in 2007.
But denying Iran a nuclear weapon is important not in spite of these other destabilizing actions but rather because of them, Power said.
She quoted President Barack Obama saying the United States agreed to the deal because an Iran with a nuclear weapon would be far more destabilizing and far more dangerous to our friends and to the world.

Uphill????? with boner and then on to McTurtle....awe, ‘slob boy’ will take away their happy hour if they don’t pass it....
Saudi Arabia will have nuclear weapons long before Iran
What the heck. If the u.n. passed it then why even bother with the u.s. congress? I mean really. Who’s in control here? Not any conservatives that I can tell. So, how’s that gop taking over the house and senate working out for us? Uh, not so well. A friend of mine who is in the house and is actually a conservative said that bohener is no longer his smoking buddy after the latest fiasco.
Uphill is trying to block it, due to traitor Corker. They need 2/3 majority to stop it due to his meddling. He’s not the only one, much of the GOP played along.
If the Senate votes against it, Obama will veto the rejection and it becomes law. The republican leadership has already put a deal in place to assure this passes by slight of hand.
The Republican Senate is almost as corrupt as the democrat senate was, almost.
>Uphill is trying to block it, due to traitor Corker. They need 2/3 majority to stop it due to his meddling. Hes not the only one, much of the GOP played along.<
Every Senator except Tom Cotton voted for that Corker crap. Then Ted Cruz has the audacity to come out and say how dangerous it is.
Pftt. They all make me sick. I’m actually angrier at Sessions for voting for this.
We have no representation. And if we ever want it again we’ll have to take it. We’ll see.
And even that would only stop it for the US. The rest of the world has flung open the doors and is rushing to feed the Mad Mullahs jihdi monster.
There were two bills, the first being Kirk-Menendez, which never had a chance of receiving the 67 votes needed to override the veto.
Into that stepped Corker with his bill which could, depending on the merits of the final agreement, get the 67 votes for override. Corker's bill also contained the pre-emptive sanctions found in Kirk-Menendez, in case Iran walked before the final agreement was reached.
It was either Corker's bill or no bill.
Corker's bill also met the requirements set out by Mossad.

The Corker bill undermines the Constitution. Under its terms, Obama can lift the sanctions against Iran unless both houses of Congress reject the deal by the two-thirds majorities necessary to override a presidential veto
That is your poorly informed opinion
From the bill:
An action involving statutory sanctions relief by the United States pursuant to an agreement or the Joint Plan of Action:
may be taken if, during the review period, Congress enacts a joint resolution stating that Congress favors the agreement;
may not be taken if, during the review period, Congress enacts a joint resolution stating that Congress does not favor the agreement; or
may be taken if, following the review period, there is not enacted any such joint resolution.
Of course, any other protections supposedly afforded by the bill have been ignored, with OZero already working with the UN to drop sanctions within the review period and without congressional repercussions.

The problem with your position is that it requires you to conclude that every republican in the senate(except the single no vote Tom Cotton) is in cahoots with Corker and equally guilty of what you accuse Corker of being guilty of.
15 nations volunteered to get blown to hell.
Not Russia or China.
The former is an Iranian supporter. The latter can afford to have a few million miserable lives blown to kingdom come. They’ll just retaliate and destroy the entire Iranian country if they try to terrorize China with nukes.
