Ted Cruz is getting a boost in South Carolina from Rep. Jeff Duncan, who on Monday will announce Cruz as the first headliner for his Faith & Freedom BBQ next month.
The event, which in five years has ballooned to the largest Republican event in the Palmetto State, will present a key opportunity for GOP presidential candidates to connect with conservative voters in a state that will help decide the Republican nominee. But, unlike at many party events, where often all candidates are invited to speak, Duncan will this year select only three or four of his favorite Republican contenders, offering an early look at whom he might later choose to endorse.
In the vein of Rep. Steve King in Iowa, Duncan has worked to establish himself as something of a kingmaker for conservatives in South Carolina, and his stamp of approval could be an important boon for candidates hoping to compete there.
Duncans selection of Cruz, who has worked closely with Duncan and other House conservatives, could mean the Texas senator has a leg up in winning Duncans support later.
Sen. Cruz has been a strong voice for the people in Washington, and I'm looking forward to bringing him to South Carolina for this important event," Duncan said, according to a forthcoming press release from his office....

Yes! that is so awesome
My end-of-the-month money about to come in. Time for another donation.
WHERE in SC?
The article doesn’t say.
Yep. He's an excellent speaker and proven conservative. However he has a long way to go to actually become President.
good.
Compared to who? He was at 3% at this point in his senate race. Ask David Dewhurst, the odds-on favorite, how that turned out.
I’m researching it. In the meantime, enjoy:

Thanks. I’ll try to make it.
Compared to other Republican candidates running for President. Last Fox poll I saw Cruz was in seventh place (at 4%) tied with Huckabee. So thus far Cruz is not doing well at all and needs to get some momentum going.
Re-read my post #7.
sorry I gain little comfort from your post #7. As it is now I think Cruz is in deep shit with little chance of winning the nomination.
I don't know why they even have polls almost a year and a half from the election. They're worthless.
Not to be snide, but how many presidential campaigns have you worked on?
2 important dates coming up on the calendar for Ted Cruz to shine, this Aug event with Jeff Duncan and the up coming debates.
The God of Israel in Jesus Christ’s name let Ted Cruz find great favor in the she’s of the people of the State of South Carolina, and let Ted Cruz be the top winner in the coming and future debates, Amen !
I would not be so content. Big money donors get snagged early on. Cruz is probably the only candidate I would support with the possible exception of Walker. However the Cruz campaign has been a major disappointment thus far and building absolutely no momentum. Cruz remains way behind the pack in polls week after week. To those who say “well it is early yada yada” I say “yeah, right”
Even a FixTheNews Fox News poll at this time needs to be taken with a grain of salt.
The true amount of support Ted Cruz is getting and enthusiasm is Ted Cruz beating out the rest of the field including Jeb Bush in the 2nd quarter donations and Ted Cruz is almost always the top speaker at alot of these political speech events.
I meant, eyes, not she’s.
Cruz has had years to get name recognition and build momentum. The fact that he is in SEVENTH place indicates a major problem.
