Personally, I think it will be Cruz, Walker, or God forbid, Senor Bush. Trump will have a major say in the eventual nominee.
well Donald could start and Cruz could turn him down and help plan and execute.
I think that Donald would then bring about Cruz for two terms, but either will do.
The question is, should the government be involved in healthcare at all, and if so, what should that role be?

The other delusion here is that the Politicians will just cancel Obamacare and the People getting their Free Healthcare Coverage from Uncle Sugar will be joyful that they lost it.

He was running in 1999 when he said he supported single payer, universal healthcare, and that healthcare was an "entitlement from birth".

Please. Trump has flip flopped so much he makes Romney look principled.

The reason why we have Obamacare is that Republicans ignored real problems for too long.
When Ocare was being debated I brought up that we need to find solutions for the people in the worst trouble and all I got back was crickets.
I’m a conservative/libertarian on most issues, but the fact is that we have had serious problems with our healthcare system for decades. The ‘eat or be eaten’ attitude doesn’t help with that situation.
Here’s an example. A nine year old is diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes (autoimmune). Nobody did anything wrong. He didn’t deserve it. His parents’ insurance or Medicaid or CHIP help get him through until he’s 18.
Then what?
He needs medication every few hours to live. He has a preexisting condition, so what insurance he can get, no 18 year old can afford. He’s able-bodied enough to work s he’s disqualified from gov’t help, but doesn’t yet have the education or the experience to get a good job with benefits. He can forget college because he can’t survive four years without insurance.
That’s my son’s situation.
I saw the trouble with Obamacare and I still do. I see exactly where it’s bitten our entire nation in the butt and I know that it needs to go.
But right now, my (previously uninsured) son had insurance for $200 a month with a zero deductible and a $20 co-pay for most services. He’s in the process of building a career and he’s going to be alright now.
When he was young, I called around. We were talking monthly premiums of $3600 a month with a $10,000 deductible. Nobody in our family could afford that. I asked other diabetics how they managed and their solutions were scary. Reusing needles and sharpening them with a nail file. Not testing. Not going to the dr for follow-ups. Stretching insulin and allowing their BGs to stay high.
Here’s another situation. Knew a man who had cancer of the brain when he was a toddler. He had a complete cure. By the time he was grown, he was a completely healthy adult.
But he had cancer in his record. Same situation as my son.
He had the option to join the army at least. That’s what saved him.
Obamacare was not a good solution to this problem, but it was *something*.
Trump is RIGHT that we can’t just drop Obamacare and go back to the way things were. I do believe that it’s going to take a combination of free market principles to bring prices down and some sort of universal healthcare for those who can’t afford it. We also need to invest in research to get cures on fast tracked and on the table. X-prizes galore. Then pass the laws so that the FDA can fast-track these treatments.
One of the problems is the 3rd party payer system. But the big problem is that we’ve developed technologies to keep sick people alive for much longer. Chronic conditions are going through the roof because we’re getting better at keeping people on life support. My son would’ve been dead years ago without modern medicine.
Did you know that one of the biggest burdens on Medicare is dialysis?
Everyone wants the best, but nobody can afford it.
We’re over a technological hump when it comes to medicine. Perhaps, in 100 years, we’ll have developed a ton of affordable solutions. But we’ve got to get there.
Ignoring the problems aren’t going to make them go away. And desperate people will go to the person who offers them *anything*.
Republicans can no longer stand still and hope that people want to keep things just the way they are. We have to offer solutions - better solutions than the opposition.
And NO. I’m not just saying this because of Trump. I’ve been saying this on FR since 2008.

The creation of the US debacle obamaumaocare was coming, and Romneycare was the rubber stamp. Every single corporate board wanted to, and got cost shifting.
This parallels the history of healthcare in for example the coal country. The gradual separation of the operators from the cost of healthcare for workers, and the creation of fedgov agencies created at the operator’s behest to force the cost and management of the care of the workers on ALL US taxpayers. Cost- shifting. Always— cost shifting from the balance books. Simple really.
Obamaumaocare was pushed by corporate US (the Chamber of Commerce) and global outfits, precisely for the same reason wealthy socialists like Trump supported it— they eliminate the cost of the care for themselves. Which is very interesting because of the position of Trump on illegals— and here, it is the flood of illegals that will bankrupt further the already destroyed obamaumaocare financing.

Real Conservatives want a real Conservative to run against the Democrats. Trump would be by far the least Conservative GOP candidate in decades (with the possibile exception of Romney).
I would hate see Jeb Bush be the candidate. Trump is far more Liberal than Jeb.

You are only pretending you have a choice. You can hear conservatism in the campaign, maybe by the best one out there, Ted Cruz, but he has the media machine to fight and he won’t win it. The nom will be (not sure how legally nominated, either) the least damaged goper. This time I bet very few of the “base” will even show up to vote for him.
You have hillary or you have trump. And the latter has introduced actual truth into politics in America. I love truth.
