On his first trip to Iowa as the fresh face of the Republican presidential field, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker has been putting the pedal to the metal, crisscrossing the Hawkeye States corn field-lined interstates in a souped-up Winnebago RV with a goal of hitting all 99 counties before voters here cast the nations first votes in the presidential nominating process.
Since arriving in Iowa Friday -- the final stop of his whirlwind five-state, 16-city campaign kickoff tour -- it has been abundantly clear that Iowa is the key to Walkers White House hopes.
~snip~
While campaigning this week, he has taken to pulling from his pocket a 40-year-old-photo of him and his brother, David, holding an Iowa state flag and telling the story of how as boys they raised money to buy a state flag for the Plainfield, Iowa, town hall by walking around town with a mayonnaise jar with a slit in the top, eventually collecting enough coins to purchase the flag.
"Thats the kind of people we are here in the Midwest," Walker said. "We stand up for what's right, we do the right thing, we don't make a lot of fuss about it, we just do it. And I think that's what we need now more than ever in Washington."

Scott Walker starts 99 county Iowa blitz.
FReep Mail me if you want on, or off, this Wisconsin interest ping list.
He was great at the Family Leadership Summit, but was outshined by Cruz and Jindal. He is sharp as can be and very quick thinking and speaking. His delivery makes him less charismatic. He has been in the trenches, is extraordinarily capable and would be an exceptional cabinet member.
Iowa: Walker leading by +8 over nearest contender.
I guess he opposes farm subsidies and the ethanol mandate too.... or not
If you can win Iowa.... ask Santorum about that
I’m sure Walker will happily take an Iowa win.
Any candidate would.
Walker on ethanol, March 7, 2015
“While I do not support the mandate, I do not have a problem with ethanol...
However, it is clear to me that a big government mandate is not the way to support the farmers of this state...
Central planning will not help our family farmers, protect our environment, or provide jobs.
The free enterprise system must drive innovation to relieve our dependence on foreign oil, not mandates from the state or federal government.”
I just listened to Gov. Walker’s discussion with Luntz and his answers to questions from the audience.
He holds commonsense, workable, conservative positions and he laid them out clearly and directly.
Under his leadership, Wisconsin has passed many conservative measures (kept moving WI out from under Democratic Party control while under a barrage of Leftist activism, inc, a recall election and years of prosecutorial misconduct aimed at Gov. Walker and Wisconsin conservatives).
The audience was very receptive to Scott Walker.
There’s only two candidates in the field that deserve the vote of conservatives. Walker and Cruz. The rest are a waste of oxygen.
meh... when I saw headline souped up Winnebago I was hoping Walker was using the 900HP 1971 Winnebago built by Wisconsin’s Ring Brothers. Not just some boring bus.
Neat story about him and his brother as kids raising money for the town to buy a state flag.
How exciting.....(NOT!).....YAWN.....
Sorry Scott Walker lost A LOT of credibility by playing the Establishment card.
No way in h@ll will I ever pull the lever for this clown.
Here is simple way that most Freepers that are confused can understand.
The MSM (main stream media) is NOT your friend. Nor will they ever be. Okay???
So whom ever they attack most, then that is who you should, BY DEFAULT.... route to win... Okay?
For the record, Scott Walker cannot defeat Hillary Clinton.
Right now I only see two candidates that can do that. It’s Donald Trump and Ted Cruz. Although the media is doing a great job of burying Cruz who polls around 4ht and 5th spot. That’s not going to cut it.
The Establishment and along with their cohorts in the controlled media will go soft on Scott Walker and Jeb Bush until they can get Trump and Cruz out of the way. Much like they did with McCain and Romney who both lost.
Then once Walker or Bush get the nomination... Then the media will attack the Republican to insure a Clinton victory.
Scott Walker may play well in Wisconsin, but Wisconsin does not look like America.
A Trump/Cruz 2016 ticket will win the entire South, along with the Midwest, split the North East, but we should win New York. I would even say California would be a toss up. Nevertheless, Trump wins and becomes POTUS.
If Bush or Walker gets the nomination. You can bet that New York and California will go to Hillary. I’m sorry but Bush and Walker have zero Charisma and play the Establishment line that turns off most conservatives.
Fact, among other things.
That was my first thought, too. The writer doesn’t know the difference between souped up and decked out.
Just as good would have been the reissued Brave.
California is a communist country and will never not vote Democrat.
