A 48-year-year old off-duty black federal police officer is still alive after being shot by Seaside Police officers early Friday morning.
Just before 1:30am, officers responded to a call reporting a loud, drunk woman at a house in the 1100 block of Amador Avenue, according to a statement by the Seaside Police Department. Officers gave her a courtesy ride back to her house in the 1200 block of Palm Avenue.
As officers were helping the woman to her door, her husband stepped outside with a gun and officers shot at him. He is Eric Glazier, a federal police lieutenant since 1997 at Naval Support Activity Monterey, the base where Naval Postgraduate School is located.
Seaside police asked District Attorney Dean Flippo to investigate the shooting, as is the SSPD's custom in officer-involved shootings. Flippo agreed, and his investigators arrived on the scene at about 2:30am.
Flippo spoke with members of the media Friday afternoon, but few details are being released at this time.
"He displayed a gun," Flippo said. Investigators aren't sure yet whether the weapon was government-issued or not. They're also not sure whether the man fired his gun, or even pointed it at his wife or the responding Seaside cops.

If it’s your house you can come waltzing out of it armed, and be shielded against officers concerned for their own safety? Really?
Good luck with that.
I also drove a VW 411, if you remember those. Newer version of the Squareback. Driving through the Rockies those valves chattered like castanets.
I miss cars you could work on. I adjusted the valves on my Bug with feeler gauges. Set the dwell with a timing light. I believe it even had points and condenser, Bosch brand.
Neat little krautmobile. Only 30 mpg though. My Lucerne gets that.
“off-duty black federal police officer is still alive after being shot “
Will Al “not so” Sharpton or Jessie Highjackson get involved like they get involved in everything whenever an American African gets shot?
“How old is that Pontiac in front of the house?”
Nearly 50 years old!
From the late 60s - back when REAL MEN made cars. Watch I Dream of Jeanie and you’ll see them in mint condition.
“I believe the car in the picture is a ‘68 Grand Prix.”
WINNER! At least by checking picks on Google Images.
Who answers the door these days? “Maybe it’s those people with the big checks!”
Fair enough, you and your cop buddies come "waltzing" into my house with guns showing, I light you up. I am concerned for my family's and my safety.
Explain how that is any different?
“Some guy waves a gun, or ignores officers attempts to get him to drop the gun, what are they supposed to do.”
That’s certainly true. My issue is that today cops seem to be all to eager to shoot! And they evidently are told to shoot until the gun is empty! We can armchair quarterback what happened in Seaside, but it outwardly looks like a conflict between two LEO’s, with both parties being accustomed to using firearms as a means of protection. Sure hope the guy who was shot makes it. We have a second home in Carmel. Seaside is mostly auto dealerships and businesses that don’t want to pay Monterey’s city taxes on their businesses, and a very modest residential area. It’s definitely the low-rent part of the Monterey Peninsula.
“I searched 1969 Pontiac Lemans and the photo looks pretty close. That ones pretty rusty.”
Everything in Seaside is rusty it it’s more than ten years old, courtesy of the Pacific Ocean.
Apparently even if you too are an officer.
Q: When does a loud drunk woman get a courtesy ride home from the cops?
A: When her husband is a cop.
Since when do we have “federal police”?
Honestly? Your words make my blood run cold. And you're probably in LE.
The "top dog" WAS the homeowner.
Hello?
Responding officers are civil frikkin' servants.
I swear to God, DoughtyOne, if yours is the common mindset in law enforcement, then ... all bets are off. A man has a right to come to the door of his house fully armed and "wielding." The homeowner IS THE TOP DOG.
Officer, you forget yourself for the civil servant (not executioner) you are.
Re-reading those words, DoughtyOne.
You wouldn't think of yourself as "top dog" on the scene if it was you?
You call for such disarmed fear and submission to civil servants (cops) returning your loud and disorderly lush wife from the neighbor's? You don't know if they're real cops or what, and they're at your door? But you believe people on their own property have no right to brandish weapons while officers are present, or risk being shot by officers for the sheer temerity of "having an attitude of thinking he was top dog on the scene"??
Man.
Quit their jobs right there, leave the man and his wife alone, and find another line of work?
Because they sure as hell should stay out of police work.
Rent a guard force for military installation.
Very interesting. Media will bend over backwards to NOT say the race of a person when the shooter is black.
But when a black is shot it’s in the first sentence.
Coincidence?
HA
Sounds like a night of drinking gone bad.
