Army chief of staff Gen. Ray Odierno said on Friday he has no plans to arm recruiters or add security patrols to military recruitment centers in the wake of the Islamist terror attacks on unarmed, unguarded military offices in Chattanooga, Tennessee on Thursday. Odierno basically said he doesn’t trust his troops to handle their weapons properly.
Also on Friday, the Marine Corps ordered recruiters to not wear their uniforms at work for ‘force protection.’

Odierno made his comments at a breakfast with reporters, according to the AP.
“”Security at military recruiting and reserve centers will be reviewed in the aftermath of the deadly shooting in Tennessee, but it’s too early to say whether the facilities should have security guards or other increased protection, the Army’s top officer said Friday.
“A day after a gunman shot and killed four Marines and wounded three other people in Chattanooga, Gen. Ray Odierno, chief of staff of the Army, told reporters that arming troops in those offices could cause more problems than it might solve.
“”I think we have to be careful about over-arming ourselves, and I’m not talking about where you end up attacking each other,” Odierno said during a morning breakfast. Instead, he said, it’s more about “accidental discharges and everything else that goes along with having weapons that are loaded that causes injuries.””
…”In the wake of previous shootings at military facilities, the services have reviewed and strengthened security precautions at the centers. But most of those involve safety precautions and the need to be aware and watchful of surroundings.
“Odierno said that there are currently no plans to have security personnel posted at recruiting centers, but added that there will be a review. He said a notice went out Thursday to all Army locations reminding them of protection measures.”
On Friday evening ABC News Pentagon reporter Luis Martinez reported on Twitter the Marine Corps ordered recruiters to not wear their uniforms at work.

Perhaps the General needs to consider training his assigned troops better if he thinks they are not capable of handling their firearms. The military NEEDS to be able to protect themselves so let them do it.

British troops have been told not to wear their uniforms in public as security chiefs fear another attack on a serving soldier is likely.
An email has been sent to all military personnel advising them to wear civilian clothing even when moving from unit to unit.
And it warned soldiers not to tell anyone they didn’t know that they were in the Armed Forces and keep security on bases tight.
Increased ‘chatter’ heard by MI5 and GCHQ indicates there are British jihadis who want to carry out a copycat attack of the vicious murder of Drummer Lee Rigby.
The Mail reports that some Muslim fanatics have been scouring the internet looking for the locations of military bases in order to plot another killing.
But some politicians have spoken out against the move, saying that the country should not give in to terrorists.
Labour MP John Woodcock said, “Our military personnel will understandably follow the immediate safety advice they are given but ministers must understand people want our brave troops to be loud and proud in their communities, not being forced to hide away.’It would be a stomach-churning victory for the terrorists if their cowardly attacks resulted in a permanent ban on our servicemen and women displaying their uniforms in public.”

Look at the contributions made by this young man. Obama calls the family of black thugs but can’t be bothered with the deaths of young decent people.
I'm on record stating that I would spend 1 - 2 hours a day guarding a recruiting center. With my own arms.
If there were some clearing house where we could match up volunteers to centers (and get written permission from the landlord), we could protect those who protect us.
