US cops say they reacted because Boston bus passengers panicked leading to court appearance for 26-year-old
A 26-year-old metal fan was arrested in Boston, Massachusetts, on Friday, for wearing a fake bullet belt.
Kevin Young was apprehended after he boarded a bus wearing the traditional heavy music fans garb, along with spiked gloves and bracelets.
Hes was charged with unlawful possession of ammunition, unlawfully carrying a dangerous weapon and disorderly conduct but the charges were later dropped.
A police report says cops only acted because others on board the bus panicked and called for help claiming Young was carrying a gun.
Boston Police Department report: Officers responded to a call for a person with a gun. The driver had pulled the bus over as passengers began calling 911, when a male suspect boarded the bus with what appeared to be military-grade ammunition strapped around his waist.
The driver stated the passengers were in a panic, fearing that the suspect was about to pull out a weapon.
Kevin Young exited the bus and was stopped by police, at which time it was discovered the ammunition was fake.
Officers say they recovered 69 replica bullets and describe Youngs arm decoration as spiked fighting gloves.
The charges were dropped after prosecutors established that the bullets “could not and were not intended to be fired,” said a spokesman for the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office.
Let’s say you see kids age 10 WALKING HOME:
What do you do?
A LOT of people these days CALL THE POLICE.
It sounds totally nuts, but yeah, that’s what they do.
The police come, more or less arrest the kids, and their totally normal and loving parents get charged for neglect or child endangerment.
No more chicken McNuggets at McDonalds?
Sure!
Call the cops.
Da Gummint is provider, and Da Cops is Mommy, so the solution for A LOT of stuff these days is to simply call the cops.
Did a lot of other metal guys in bands all start wearing the studs and leather because of Halford, or was it just a happy coincidence? Early Priest isn’t like that, did it start with British Steel? I know Lemmy was into the bullet belt look pretty early.

To think, the same city that hosted the Boston Tea Party.
Pathetic.
I’m thinking they just followed Halford. I don’t think there were many true metal bands before them.
Good thing the guy didn’t have a Pop Tart nibbled into the shape of a gun. The SWAT team would have been called.
lol
That sounds plausible. Pretty funny if Halford was influencing all these tough metal dudes to supposedly look tough because he was into the look for lifestyle reasons.
Then all the hair metal bands blew up, and they actually looked swishy with poofed hair, make up and gauzy scarves but probably got way more girls than every one wearing studs and leather, which was actually fruity too but just in a different way.

When did we become a nation of weenies? When we created Democrats.
Boston: Weenie Strong.
And then Metallica came along and killed glam rock.
This is one of the reasons Massachussetts is WAAAY down on that list of “Most Hated States” (43 IIRC)
On the lower end, Bartenders get the girls because they're popular. Something
about that spotlight.
Not at all. The decline very clearly began with Suffrage. Women tending to vote for security over freedom at every turn, for over 100 years. "For the children". It is their biological imperative. Some are able to use reason to see beyond it and understand the true importance of freedom... but they are a small minority.
The funny thing is Cliff Burton never got into any of that, he always looked like he could have been in early Scorpions or Black Sabbath, much more hippy-ish.
The bands that looked like girls were crappola like Poison and Ratt. I remember seeing that first Poison album and thinking, ‘oh great another chick band.’
Freegards
That’s a good point, famous enough and you do OK. I guess I meant who attracted more chicks to their fanbase and concerts, bands like Poison or Motorhead? I rememeber a lot more normal girls being way into Bon Jovi as opposed to Slayer.

LOL!! That’s XACTLY what I said when I saw the cover of their first album in the ‘80s:
“Who’s the babes?”
*shudder*
Given Boston cops’ accuracy, the bus passengers are lucky the officers didn’t open fire.
The first Tuesday in November, 2008.
