Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio and Rand Paul Not Worthy of Presidential Office
Obvious Reality | July 14th, 2015 | Self

Posted on 07/14/2015 8:11:06 AM PDT by Mariner

The Corker Bill on Iran passed the Senate on May 4th, 2015. The vote was 98-1. That bill reversed the number of votes required to enact the Iran "Treaty" from 67 to 34.

Every GOP Senator, including Ted Cruz, Rand Paul and Marco Rubio voted for this Constitutional Atrocity.

Remember these votes when you choose who to vote for in the Primary and the General Election.

None of these men are worthy of the office after this betrayal of the American, and Israeli, people.

ne that can be later rescinded by Congress and a sympathetic President. I’m not saying that would happen, especially with a Jeb Bush as President, but it might happen with a true conservative President.

The point is really moot. By the time we have a new President iran will have a new bomb...unless they've already used it. And even if not, there's no turning back...sanctions are a dead issue. The US can reimpose any sanctions we want but there's nothing that compels the rest of the world to go along after this sanctions regime goes away. And it's gone now. No way Russia and China will agree to new sanctions.

obama has really and truly screwed us. Who ever imagined on 9-12-01 that the US would work so hard to allow a terrorist regime to develop a nuclear bomb?

Well Obama has been trying to call this deal an Executive Agreement instead of a treaty. So to do an Executive Agreement he does not have to go through the ratification process. This put the Congress in a situation of what to do about it.

Congress could have just let Obama go forward with his agreement and as far as I know they could have refused to take off the sanctions, refused to fund any part of it and killed it off that way. But they decided to do this convoluted legislation which in fact as Mark Levin pointed out waters down their ratification powers on treaties. A treaty as we all know requires 67 votes to ratify.

So at this point Congress appears to be treating the Iran nuclear deal like a treaty with a new watered down authority to approve or disapprove it.

The whole thing was ill conceived and the vote for this POS Iran nuclear legislation was 98-1 so that gives you a good idea of the judgement of most of the Senate. Now its going to take 67 votes to kill it instead of 67 votes to pass it. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Please don’t try to pooh-pooh the very real potential that something won’t be done if IRAN does get a bomb. You think too parochially IMO.

I’m not talking about anything with regard to this country’s response at all. Israel has and will always protect itself and its interests. In the end it will do what it has to in order to remain sovereign. It won’t make a damned bit of difference if there is an Obama in charge (or Russia, or China) or not.

"So at this point Congress appears to be treating the Iran nuclear deal like a treaty with a new watered down authority to approve or disapprove it."

This is PRECISELY the Fast Track process used on Trade Deals.

Only this time it was applied to an International Arms Treaty.

Incredible.

But even more incredible is there are MANY people here on FR that support it and those who voted for it.

As noted in Post #14:

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, released the following statement regarding votes on the Iran Nuclear Review Act:

“This bill was a missed opportunity. If Congress had acted to defend our constitutional authority – if Congress had adopted the Cruz-Toomey amendment – then we would be able to stop a bad Iran deal. Instead, the odds are now overwhelming that under these ground rules President Obama will negotiate, and Congress will acquiesce to, a terrible deal that allows Iran to acquire nuclear weapons and will endanger the lives of millions of Americans and our allies.

“I voted no on cloture because we should have insisted on amendments to put real teeth in this bill. Ultimately, I voted yes on final passage because it may delay, slightly, President Obama’s ability to lift the Iran sanctions and it ensures we will have a Congressional debate on the merits of the Iran deal. I will continue to lead the fight to prevent the Islamic Republic of Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and to protect the national security of America and our allies.”

"The Senate bill would require a competed deal to be submitted to Congress, which could then vote to approve or disapprove the nuclear deal within 30 days. Sanctions on Iran could not be lifted during this consideration.

A vote to disapprove a nuclear deal with Iran would not kill it. President Obama could veto such a measure, and the House and Senate would then need two-thirds majorities to override his veto.

The administration initially opposed the legislation, arguing it could interfere with negotiations with Iran. The White House changed course after it became clear that the bill had strong support from Democrats."

Thank you for that link. Again, Senator Cruz has explained his vote ... he knew a 97-2 vote, while better for himself, was still futility once closure occurred.

“I voted no on cloture because we should have insisted on amendments to put real teeth in this bill. Ultimately, I voted yes on final passage because [1] it may delay, slightly, President Obama’s ability to lift the Iran sanctions and [2] it ensures we will have a Congressional debate on the merits of the Iran deal.

No bill passes this Senate 98-1 unless there is no better option. 0bama was going to use executive action to lift sanctions and this bill forces that to be delayed for 60 days while Congress very publicly debates how awful this historic surrender to Iranian mullahs is. And H has now come out with "full throated" support herself. Wrap that around her neck like an albatross right now.

And pray that 13 democrat senators will vote for Country over party. My guess is that even the likes of Schmucky will have many constiuents telling him to vote against 0bama and his Iranian buds on this.

"U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, released the following statement regarding votes on the Iran Nuclear Review Act:"

Yet Cruz voted for final passage instead of holding strong to the Constitutional provisions of Treaty Power.

Yes, he knew this thing was on the fast track and was going to pass.

Yes, one man cannot stop the entire Senate.

But every man has the power to vote principle and conscience.

Yes.

You disagree on Ted’s tactics.

Ted made his reason’s clear.

“worthy” is a personal assessment.

Under the circumstances, I prefer Ted’s tactics.

Many people on FR do not understand the difference between a Treaty and an Executive Agreement or even what an Executive Agreement is.

An Executive Agreement really designed as far as I know for an agreement between us and one other country. Anytime you have 5 countries engaged in an agreement with another its a treaty and Congress should IMO just have dug in its heels and insisted that this Iran Nuclear Deal was a treaty and would have to be ratified or else they would not allow any of it to be funded. There are many things they could have done to stop this deal from going forward. Instead in a moment of insanity they passed this watered down ratification process which is totally unconstitutional.

I have done extensive research based on the last 13 Presidents and according to my computations - the next likely POTUS will have 1 or more daughters (12/13) and the last name will likely have two syllables (6/13). 100% OF OUR PRESIDENTS HAVE BEEN MEN. Let’s maintain that statistic;)

i.e. from FDR to Obama.

FDR 5 boys, 1 girl
Truman 1 girl (2 syllables)
Eisenhower 2 boys
Kennedy 1 boy 1 girl
Johnson 2 girls (2 syllables)
Nixon 2 girls (2 syllables)
Ford 3 boys 1 girl
Carter 3 boys, 1 girl (2 syllables)
Reagan 2 boys 2 girls (2 syllables)
Bush 3 boys 1 girl
Clinton 1 girl (2 syllables)
Bush 2 girls
Obama 2 girls
