The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) has unanimously approved a resolution to end the organisation's ban on gay adults working as leaders.
The group's National Executive Board will meet to ratify the resolution on 27 July, the Boy Scouts said in a statement.
It is a major step towards ending a policy that has caused deep rifts in the group, which was set up in 1910.
The BSA voted to end a ban on allowing open gay boys to become scouts in 2013.
Earlier this year, former US defence secretary Robert Gates, who is BSA president, told the group's national meeting that the ban on gay adults needed to end, saying it was no longer sustainable.

I’m in my waning months with the BSA...if it hadn’t been for a couple of boys that “grew up” in my Troop working to finish Eagle and a friend asking me to stay on, I would have been out last year.
Our Troop will probably have no choice but we will have to discuss with our Charter Org to see what options we have since we’re not with a church.

I haven't flown in years, but that experience instilled a sense of responsibility and good judgment in me at that early age, and it has paid lifelong dividends. Sadly, I look at many of the utterly clueless teens today and can't imagine them being responsible enough to act as Pilot in Command of anything. For those who have been raised correctly, however, soaring youth camps are still a great idea.
P.S. - I keep thinking about getting back into the sport. There are some nice LS-4s out there that can be had for a reasonable price.

As the mother of a proud Eagle Scout (2009) I sadly hope and pray that BSA will disband under the weight of their liability and perversion. This is sickening.
