Man killed trying to rob ex-CNN anchor was 'street slave' who was given drugs to commit crimes claim police as they charge his 'owner' with HIS murder
The man who was killed as he tried to rob a former CNN anchor at gunpoint is now being described as a 'street slave.'
Lynne Russell, 68, had stopped for the night in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on Tuesday June 30 when she was grabbed by an Tomorio Walton, who demanded valuables from her room.
But she was saved from the attack after her husband Chuck de Caro- a former CNN anchor who has served in the special forces - burst out of the shower and gunned the assailant.
Now, police are saying Walton entered the room at the behest of Skyy Durrell Barrs, a man who would allegedly give Walton drugs to commit crimes.
Barrs has now been charged with murder.

Albuquerque has a black population of 3.3 percent according to the 2010 Census.
We should have a law to REWARD citizens for shooting felons because it directly saves taxpayers money. I say, $10,000.00 reward or tax credit for shooting felons
Anyways, The many faces of Tomorio Walton

Abq?
LOL, close, but no cigar!
These two people worked for CNN over 14 years ago, not recently. She was the first female anchor on CNN from 1983 until 2001. He was a Special Assignments Correspondent from 1984-1989. She has been a deputy sheriff in Georgia and is still a private detective there.
Why should they be criticized for picking a Motel 6 instead of some high-end hotel? Not your decision. Not about how much money you make or they make. This incident could have happened anywhere or in any motel. Staying in a Motel 6 didn't cause this incident. This was a random act. Who are you to question their decisions? This is not about you.
Among the main reasons why I *always* choose hotels better than Motel 6 is the type of guests they attract and the types of people who hang around places like that.
My guess is that that's a lesson that Lynn Russell has now learned and that it will now be a cold day in hell before she stays in anything less than a Holiday Inn Express.
Ah. Then that's why she can go anywhere with a gun, and why he can use her gun to save her.
Point is, we can't. Period.
And I still think their CNN fame helps - a lot.
Yep, plus they had a ground floor room opening onto the parking lot.
Both are no nos if you are concerned about your safety in a cheap motel.
There is a picture in the article of the Motel 6 they stayed at in Albuquerque. It looks clean and safe. I have stayed at a many Motel 6s over the years traveling and never had any problems. Like I said this was a random act. It could have happen at a Holiday Inn Express as well. Criminals prey on hotels and motels because they know people are traveling and have money with them.
I bet there are few people on this site or in the general public who would know that they both worked at CNN 15 plus years ago until this incident was publicized. Fame is a stretch.
Whatever....
He have PPsycho eyes.
Albuquerque is a violent crime ridden city. But the gun laws in NM in general are very well accepted. They have constitutional carry now.
I lived in NM for 14 years. Traveled for a living, outside sales. Most of the time I had a gun when I was traveling.
I’m 67 years old and only 2 times in my life have I had to produce a gun. Once in TX when I was in college and once in NM. In neither case did I fire a weapon, but in both cases the confrontation “ended” quickly after I produced it.
Even the Democrats in NM are gun lovers, there are many who love to hunt and it is part of life there.
Jealous? That they can defend their lives and not be arrested for it? That any cop, off duty, can carry anywhere, any time, in any state, and not be arrested for it? You call that jealousy? Then the founders of this country were jealous of the British royalty, who had the same level of self-protection for them and their families (and still do today) while the common British subject would be arrested for the same level of self-defense (and still would be today). That "jealousy," as you put it, was enough to start this country. Apparently you no longer believe it is enough justification to keep the country going - a country just chock-full of jealous people, who are treated as criminals by the police for wanting to protect themselves and their families IN EXACTLY THE SAME WAY, FOR THE SAME REASONS, IN THE SAME PLACES as those same police officers LEGALLY CAN AND DO protect their own lives and the lives of their own family members NOW. Jealous? No. PISSED OFF.
It's not the fault of this couple in Albuquerque or the cops that you don't get your way with guns to protect yourself and your family. Maybe you live in the wrong place or haven't pursued a license to carry a gun. I own several guns and can carry them anytime I need to, just as concealed carry weapons. And I've never had a problem with cops carrying guns. That's their job.
And I am not "pissed off" all the time......
And I suppose he was an aspiring rapper turning his life around before he went in.
One of the reasons we didn’t retire to ABQ. I went to high school there and when we moved to NM in ‘63, I don’t think there were a million people in the state. Now I think there’s that many in ABQ. Yes, there were pick up trucks in the HS parking lot with rifles in the racks behind the seat. Nobody ever had an issue with it. Weird how there are some many libs in NM that own guns. LOL! Maybe they’re just not ready to give them up with so many dangerous conservatives around. Now if we could just get the NV legislature to push for constitutional carry..... Based on the “conservatives” now controlling the Assembly and Senate, we kind of thought we’d gain some ground but like the US House and Senate, it appears we wasted our time (s)electing “conservative” candidates. Pretty friggin’ sad.
We have the same problem in TX. Bills are held in committee by a RINO (ComDem posing as Republican). Conservatives control the House totally, but the speaker is a Trojan horse they have not been able to remove.
Much like DC.
We the People must force these traitors out.
