The Democrats don’t have anything...

Nobody plays dirty politics like a woman scorned either. Hillary was played quite well by Limbaugh in 2008. Lots of conservatives switched parties in the primaries to vote for her at the urging of Rush.

Enter Trump stage left with a vitriolic conservative sounding message. The goal is to split the Republican base and it is frightening that so many just don’t see it.

Trump is going to pull away votes, conservatives will be disappointed...AGAIN. How many will stay home and not vote this time because of this game from Trump?

Hillary wins.

I’m not going to buy the spoiler routine again. The ‘base’ is already split - very distinctly, irreparably IMO.

To the extent that it forces the large slate of candidates to jump off this fake “immigration reform” fence and call the illegal alien spade a spade is a good thing, IMO.

He isn’t fooling me as a conservative, nor as a serious candidate. Pull votes away? From who? Bush in Iowa or NH or SC? Walker? Cruz? He’s not changed my mind about Cruz a single bit. Regardless of Trump, the RINO GOPe poweratti are committed to make Bush the candidate and HE is the enemy here.

Can't find anything to challenge in your assessment.

Cheering on Trump isn't much different than jumping on a bucking bronco, giving the crowd a big show, then being bucked off before the buzzer.

...”Trump is going to pull away votes, conservatives will be disappointed...AGAIN. How many will stay home and not vote this time because of this game from Trump?”...

I think it is a mute point and I am thankful that someone had the guts to state a truth that the richest in the country will not go near. We are frequently told how Washington D.C. has no unemployment and how two counties there are the richest in the nation. How are these “servants” so rich, pray tell? Well, they are living off the sweat and blood of the commonplace folks in the heart of America (rest of the country) who now have no voice because the major news media is a part of that rich of richest governments in the world. Donald Trump did not get his wealth from robbing the federal coffers and that is why he can speak the truth. I think most people are devastated by what they know is happening even if they do not understand it. I think it is possible that the 2016 elections will not be fair but will be fixed. We might have had our last fair election in 2014 which was immediately nullified by the leaders in the Senate and the House. That landslide didn’t matter in the end and such a thing is very discouraging to voters regardless of who the candidate is. I think Hillary Clinton knows all of this and that is why she does not really have to run to win.

“The goal is to split the Republican base and it is frightening that so many just don’t see it.

And do you SERIOUSLY think that Jeb could hold a candle to her? Of course not. If Jeb were the nominee, there would be a 3rd Party conservative running, and I and 90% of this site would vote that way. I still haven’t seen ANY POSITION where Jeb differs from Hillary or the rest of the Democrat Party.

My top issue is the border, and I will vote for ANYONE that at least sounds serious about securing it - so far, mostly Trump, although Cruz is certainly in the running. The rest of the bunch has more or less (mostly more) conceded the issue.

If what you say is true, that many conservatives are so easily misled by Trump’s message, doesn’t that really reflect how sh&tty the rest of the field must be? According to you Trump can just March in with a totally contrived message and completely suck the air out of the room leaving real so called candidates in his dust. If that really IS the case, then it simply means that none of the other candidates reflect the feelings of the base anyway....making them completely unelectable.

The Republican Party has crapped all over its base for the past 25+ years and a huge number within that base have come to the conclusion that there isn’t a dimes worth of difference between a (D) or an (R). Professional politicians have destroyed this country and the anger they have created has opened the door for any non-politician candidate that is willing to express that frustration. The fact that Trump is arrogant, brash, untrustworthy, etc is irrelevant as the only thing that matters to them is that he seems to feel our frustration with party leadership and direction of the country and he’s willing to incur a whole lot of abuse just to express it.
