President Trump' May Not Be So Far-Fetched - And the Polls Scare the Establishment to death
Fox News ^ | July 10, 2015 | Geoff Earle

WASHINGTON — Republicans who started off viewing Donald Trump as an amusing sideshow are starting to fret that the real-estate billionaire is becoming the main event.

Since he defied skeptics and launched his presidential bid last month, Trump has rocketed in the polls, dominated media coverage and helped steer the debate on issues.

“I don’t know that he even knows how far he takes this,” former New York GOP Rep. Thomas Reynolds, who is close to GOP candidate and ex-Gov. George Pataki, told The Post. “He has the wherewithal . . . He has put together a pretty wholesale ground force in New Hampshire, and that has to be taken seriously.”

Every human being on the planet has vested-interest blind spots. Kelo, obviously, is one of Trumps.

He is not 100% perfect.

Trump is a cross between an unprincipled real estate wheeler dealer and P.T. Barnum.

He sees the mountain of rubble created by the GOPe, understands that they can be easily bought out, and decides to to bulldoze it all level so he can put up a circus tent.

“Step right this way, folks!”

I’m not so sure.

Like most people who aren’t professional pols (and many who are), he may have changed some views over time. As a big RE guy in NY, he has had to kiss up to Dem pols—that’s just the way of the world. Not surprisingly for a NYer, his “pro-life” position may be so loose as to not meet many people’s definition of pro-life at all.

But as an always-wealthy man, it wouldn’t be surprising if he were “fiscally conservative” all along. And as a 69yo man, it wouldn’t be surprising if he’s been trending more conservative for some time, as well as if he had an old-fashioned, genuine sense of patriotism.

I do know that every other candidate running is pro-amnesty. Cruz and Santorum aren’t quite so bad as the rest on that, but they both ultimately tow big donor, GOPe lines when push comes to shove.

Cruz’ big donors are actively opposed to the GOP, big gov, and amnesty.

President Trump' May Not Be So Far-Fetched - And the Polls Scare the Establishment to death

Given Trump's known party-switching (five times since 2001), contributions to Democrats including $50,000 to Rahm Emanuel, $100,000 to the Clinton Foundation and $15,000 to Clinton's New York Senate campaign, support for Obama as recently as 2009, and known flip-flops on issues such as right to life, health care and taxes, the polls ought to scare conservatives to death in equal measure.

Freepers, we're being trolled. And some of us are lining up to get slapped in the face.

In a most ironic set of circumstances, the political/media establishment has no answer for Trump. None of their usual tactics will work against his well-financed populist bombast in this deeply disgruntled political environment that they themselves created. There is only one way to stop Trump, and that is with principle, and the establishment has no principles left to answer with, and no credibility anyhow even if they managed to find some at this late date..

> First they said Trump would not run.
He has already filed the forms to run officially.

> Then they said Trump will drop out.
Many businesses cut ties with Trump to look PC.
Trump did not flinch, actually doubled down.

> Then they said Trump was a past donor to democrats.
Do those low information people know that all large
businesses donate to both parties? Do they know the
total donations by Trump to democrats are less than
0.01% of his net worth? I would posit he is stingy
with democrats.

> Then they said Trump was in this race to help Hillary,
by running on 3rd party. I saw his interview on TV.
This is what he said “Hillary is the worst SOS ever!”
“Hillary would make a terrible president”
“My best chance to defeat the democrats is running
on the republican ticket, 3rd party is a bad idea”.

> Then they said Trump will never file his financial statement.
Trump said yesterday he will file financial statement this week!

> Then they said Trump is not as rich as he says.
Trump said yesterday, people will see when he files
his financial statement, he is actually more rich!

What will the Trump haters say next?
He does not qualify based on his hair style?

What brings you gullible liberals to this site?

Is that the best you can do? Push a button that's been deactivated since I was too young to know better? Weak.

Now piss off like I told you to the first time.

Yes, that was my point.

They are just as disgusted with the GOPe as we are.

They are backing a total of 5 pro-amnesty candidates—including Bush, Rubio, Walker, Cruz, and one more.

They are the embodiment of big, corporate money.
