WASHINGTON Republicans who started off viewing Donald Trump as an amusing sideshow are starting to fret that the real-estate billionaire is becoming the main event.
Since he defied skeptics and launched his presidential bid last month, Trump has rocketed in the polls, dominated media coverage and helped steer the debate on issues.
I dont know that he even knows how far he takes this, former New York GOP Rep. Thomas Reynolds, who is close to GOP candidate and ex-Gov. George Pataki, told The Post. He has the wherewithal . . . He has put together a pretty wholesale ground force in New Hampshire, and that has to be taken seriously.

They cannot enact legislation the cannot make treaties without consent.
You aren’t any kind of conservative
Well put
Sorry that is not for you to decide.
I don’t think that crony capitalists are very conservative either and that is the camp you are in.
And the courts have over turned his action...unfortunately this man is a dictator.
He may not leave come January 2017
Not even close and neither is Cruz.
Your illogic to complain, rightly, about crony capitalism and then favor Trump is hysterical. He is the classic pay to play business man. Having supported Obama and Reid and Pelosi for years and now wants to complain.
Apparently you don’t know what crony capitalism is.. Ted Cruz is opposed by the Chamber, Boehner, and McConnell.
You do not know what you are talking about....but keep trying
LOL! You got that right!
It is for me to decide. When someone tells me night is day it doesn’t make it true
It’s obvious from our conversation that you don’t have a clue as to why Trump is ringing a bell with the American people and pissing off the establishment in both parties.
I really don’t value your opinion about me or anything else.
Bye! Have a good night!
“I dont like any of them that much. but Trump is the worst. hes a Manchurian candidate
And how will Trump turn on everyone if he wins. Be specific.
As president he can tell most of the bureaucrats in Washington (the ones who work for the executive branch), “your fired!”.
That works for me...
As Lincoln remarked about Grant, “I cannot spare this man. He fights.”
We're desperate for a leader who doesn't just agree with us, but who is just as outraged at the unprecedented and wanton destruction of our nation - and who's willing and able (even chomping at the bit) to DO something about it.
Trump is displaying a rare sort of courage at just the right time in American politics. He honestly couldn't have played it any better, and the polls are reflecting that.
Oh I understand the tickling of ears that Trump is doing.
You need to read Milton Friedman and some other conservatives to understand why Trump is a phony.
Sarah Palindrome, who coined the term crony capitalism, helped get Cruz elected over the establishment puck..
I suspect you are a troll not a conservative.
Not if they are civil service which most are
That's a very important point to remember when people express cynicism or skepticism about Trump's sincerity in the race. He's actually losing money, friendships, and business alliances, due to the positions he's taken in his run for the White House.
That's called 'putting your money where your mouth is', which is something most Americans used to respect.
“Not if they are civil service which most are”
Did Regan not “fire” the air traffic controllers? They were civil service...
I like Ted Cruz, although I don’t agree with some of his positions.
If he is the candidate I will support him.
I haven’t decided on anyone yet.
I doubt if a Free Trade/Social Conservative can win the general election in 2015. You had better figure out something to pull in more voters.
Peace Already/Good night.
Trump has never held office other than as a business CEO. Therefore he has yet to take actual action yet on anything. Therefore you can’t condemn him for not being a conservative in action when he has yet to take any. Trump has seen what we’ve all seen these past 6 plus years of the Obama regime. He has formed his opinions as have we all, and his opinions as to the state of our economy and the state of world affairs, coincides with what most of us are thinking more so than the vast majority of the other Pub candidates. And Trump is a fighter. I’m placing my bet on Trump, and I hope he partners up with Cruz. Cruz, unlike you, sides with The Donald.
Yes, they do, but it took an outsider like Trump to land the blow that knocked them on their keister. Few, if any, politicians are suitably situated to take on a subject as important as illegal immigration so truthfully and as point-blank, as Trump did.
What I love about his positioning is the fact that the political establishment can't lay a glove on him. There's no string to pull, no coattail to yank, no funding to threaten, no promotion to deny - just nothing. They don't own him, and he's not for sale.
