A homosexual man has filed a $70 million lawsuit against Bible publishers Zondervan and Thomas Nelson, alleging that their version of the Bible that refers to homosexuality as a sin violates his constitutional rights and has caused him emotional distress.
Bradley LaShawn Fowler, an ex-con turned author, filed the federal suit in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan on Monday, the same day a judge refused to appoint him a lawyer for his suit against Thomas Nelson, The Grand Rapids Press reported.
The Court has some very genuine concerns about the nature and efficacy of these claims, the judge wrote.
Fowler, who is representing himself in both cases, claims that Zondervan manipulated Scripture by using the term homosexuals in 1 Corinthians 6:9 of their 1982 and 1987 revised edition Bibles. He also contends that the reference to homosexuality were deleted by the publisher in later versions without informing the public.
He alleges that since the older Kings James Version containing the term homosexuals is used by his family pastor, he has been outcast by his family.
The 39-year-old is suing the Grand Rapids publisher for compensation of 20 years of emotional duress and mental instability, he told WOOD-TV in Grand Rapids.
In a hand-written suit, Fowler lists all sorts of charges against Zondervan including malicious negligence, strict liability, malice, libel, and violating his civil rights. He filed a suit in June against Tennessee-based publisher Thomas Nelson on similar grounds. Hes seeking $60 million from Zondervan and $10 million from Thomas Nelson Publishing.
Zondervan issued a statement to The Christian Post that said they do not discuss ongoing litigation. The companys spokesperson Tara Powers, however, pointed out that they only publish Bibles, not translate them.
Don’t laugh. This faggot will have the mega-$$$$$ backing of every pro-homo organization in the world. And money talks when it comes to “courts.”
Suing over a translation of the Bible that's many centuries old, and has been legally published all during US history, seems to be more than a little far-fetched.
There is a critical distinction in all this that few ever make. Some things that are considered a sin are also illegal. And, some things that are considered a sin are not illegal. There has never been any thought that every sin has to be illegal in the US.
So, homosexuality can still be considered a sin even if it is not illegal, and it is not illegal to consider it a sin. It would take some new, Orwellian law for it to be illegal to consider homosexuality a sin. Such laws exist, or almost exist in maybe Canada and parts of Europe, but I don't think the US has fallen that far yet.
Yes, you’re right, the KJV doesn’t use “homosexual” because that word wasn’t known yet. Usually it uses words like “effeminate” as a noun.
We could go back to the Geneva Bible. It uses the term “b*ggerers.”
My Favorite Episode!
1 Tim 1:10 uses homosexual or the word for sodomite.
1 Cor uses a word meaning “a soft man” or catamite.
Because he’s doing it again.
those guys sure suffer “emotional distress” often.
Wait until he learns that the Nazi Brownshirts was a largely homosexual organization.
serious? this should be pulled then.
The Bible says what it says!
Get any other translation of the Bible—Orthodox, Roman Catholic, or Protestant, and it will say the same thing! You can’t just sue one English-language publisher!!!!
The only thing that will be different is something like the ELCA’s “Lutheran Study Bible”. This has the same verses, but has weasel-word “exegeses” to explain the verses away!!!!

If you’re a “gay” dealing with Holy Scripture, and don’t want to be “offended” by its content, you have to take refuge in weasel words, or in bogus lawsuits!!!!
Mr. or Ms. “Gay”: Do you really want to be a weasel, or a vicious litigator? Do you want to face God at the Last Judgment as either one of these? Isn’t it better to be offended NOW, and to repent while there is still time?
Bfl
Well, if any court takes this insane case seriously, then we'll know things have fallen further than most anyone would have guessed.
Any other freedom you want to trample on, fag?
The homosexual activists make a big deal that somehow Paul made up words and that we don’t know what it means. Believe he uses malakoi and arsenokoites which are now translated as homosexuals.
But these arguments are bogus. If you look up the passages in Leviticus that condemn homosexuality in the Greek translation of Paul’s day (the “Septuagint”) it is obvious the words Paul uses are taken from the Septuagint Greek translation of the original Hebrew. The everyday language of most everyone in the eastern part of the Roman Empire at that time was Greek, so it’s no surprise that Paul would have taken these terms from the Greek version of the Old Testament, since that is what people he was writing to would understand.
Coincidence???
From now on, "HOMOSEXUAL" it is!!
Well, we might as well multiply the award by 100,000 or so and just make a class-action suit out of it; I mean, he can’t be the only one so offended. Actually, I’m heterosexual, but I’ve felt absolutely devastated these past 20 years worrying for my homosexual brethren... you just don’t know the kind of stress I’ve been under... it’s given me wrinkles, warts, hives, I can hardly ttttype annymmorre.
I was watching it last night and realized how similar the speech pattern of Keith Olberman is to the Chancellor.
There's something wrong with those people.
