U.S. president meets with Pentagon officials following weekend airstrikes in eastern Syria
The complex threat of the ISIS extremist group will not be ultimately defeated by guns but through ideology, Barack Obama says.
The U.S. president made the remarks Monday on the military campaign against the Islamic State group after being briefed by Pentagon officials earlier in the day.
He called for co-operation among countries in a fight he said spills over borders. Obama will look to partner with Muslim communities that he said are often the target of ISIS attacks.
"The battle for hearts and minds is going to be a generational struggle," he said.

MY brother was just over 20 when he was killed fighting Japs on Okinawa. I was just over 18 going into fighting on Leyte. We had a 17 year old close friend who died in the battle of the Coral Sea. You are right on as to the many young men who fought and died. This in no way is intended to forget or ignore the men of many ages who fought and died. War is hell and in this age it covers the young and the old.
Minds could be tricky but you could get the hearts out with a good knife. Give them roofied Jello Pudding Pops beforehand and they won't even struggle.

Agree and understood. Third Generation Vet myself , early 20’s experience, so know of what you speak. Many of the current generation, not in the military, are forgetting the sacrifices made even today to protect their freedoms.
