U.S. president meets with Pentagon officials following weekend airstrikes in eastern Syria
The complex threat of the ISIS extremist group will not be ultimately defeated by guns but through ideology, Barack Obama says.
The U.S. president made the remarks Monday on the military campaign against the Islamic State group after being briefed by Pentagon officials earlier in the day.
He called for co-operation among countries in a fight he said spills over borders. Obama will look to partner with Muslim communities that he said are often the target of ISIS attacks.
"The battle for hearts and minds is going to be a generational struggle," he said.

It’s pointless to even get worked up about ISIS until Obama is gone. This country is simply going to do a little as possible to counter it so long as he’s in office.
So Barry , Bush was right... Form a democracy for a country like Iraq.
You blew that away by pandering to the “ end the war” chant, when all you needed to do was make sure the support/oversight was in place to enable the Iraq people to see the value of independence and self protection.

I think he should take his very own brand of charm, charisma and bullsh*t directly and in person to ISIS and see how that works for him. He should take ‘Liveshot’ with him since he’s also known for his superb negotiating skills.

Simply more bad judgement and another poor decision from this man. Any US Troops in the theater should require his full attention, not an occasional briefing. And to waste resources on a surrogate force, another bad decision.
Bush or Cheney already clued him in, give the military an objective, let them do the rest.

Seems like The Administration STILL does not have a plan.
They need to talk to their SoS. As a presidential candidate in 2004, John Kerry had a plan for ever occasion. No details, of course, but he claimed to have a plan for whatever came up. “I have a plan for that.”

We had an idea once and defeated the Nazis. We really, really, really believed they’d go away and they did—magically. You can do anything if you believe it. That’s what they teach in schools. That and putting on rubbers. /s
His doing anything would admit his pulling out of Iraq caused ISIS.
I can’t wait to get a real president again. When I listen to Cruz and his responses on what he would do with ISIS it makes me feel much better about the fututre and hopeful that this threat can be addressed.
