ISIS has announced that it is setting its sights on Egypts pyramids, the Sphinx of Giza, and the country's unique historic monuments in general, after its savage vandalism and looting of other precious world heritage sites.
The Islamic State is rushing reinforcements to Egypt from Libya and Iraq for its battle with Egyptian forces in northern Sinai, which went into its fifth day Sunday, July 5, and other offensives, debkafiles intelligence and counter-terror sources report. After sustaining hundreds of casualties, both sides claim to have won the upper hand but the tenacious struggle is not over.
An Islamist manpower pool is provided by Egyptian extremists who crossed into Libya in the past and settled in bases around Benghazi. Last week, ISIS summoned them to take up positions in Cairo and the Suez Canal and wait for orders to go into action. They crossed back with the help of smugglers. Those rings, dominated by the Muslim Brotherhood underground, with branches controlled by Hamas and Hizballah, bring illicit weapons and ammunition supplies to Sinai from Libya via Egypt.
President Abdel Fatteh El-Sisi is therefore obliged to earmark substantial military and intelligence resources for defending the Suez Canal and Cairo more even than the Sinai front.

If it’s on debkafile it must be true.
As long as they don’t threaten the Confederate Battle Flag the press doesn’t seem to care.
Aw hell no!
Ancient aliens did not go and build those things just so ISIS can destroy them.
Good luck with that..................
I’m not a big fan of the International Heritage Site program, but when it comes to their safety from destruction, I think they are priceless and very much worthy of saving.
ISIS touches those sites, and it’s going to pay bloody hell for it.
I don’t think the world will sit by any further if they do.
if we could convince the press that the sphinx was gay, maybe they’d stand up and take notice of this story.
I can verify that, several years ago, before ISIS but when all this “terrorist” crap started in earnest; my son was in Egypt. He hired a native “guide” to take him to the pyramids. The guide got him out in the desert alone, then started making noises about how he could just kill him & bury him in the sand there in the desert & no one would know. My son talked with him knowledgeably & respectfully about Middle Eastern concerns & Islam. (Son had studied some about other religions in Oxford getting his doctorate in religion.) For some reason the guy opted not to kill him. I know the reason - I was praying all during that time. :o)
When that time comes there will be very little mercy shown to these ISIS throwbacks.
Don’t worry. Obama, at today’s Pentagon speech, indicated he would beat ISIS with a merciless barrage of platitudes.
“AssPhinxer says what?”
It seems like they are really trying to get us to get into a war with them.
It could be that, or they could read Obama and know he won’t do anything.
Hashtags might be effective as well.
How is this any different than what the leftists in this country want to do to the Confederate flag, or statues of Southern Generals?
Not our fight.
They keep upping the ante trying to get us into their fight (islam vs islam). We should not take the bait.
Of the people here in this country or trying to get in ... that is our fight and we need to be ready and willing to do what is necessary.
If they do destroy them (don’t want) and dig it all up, have some of those super satellites get pictures of what is underneath, if anything.
I must respectfully disagree.
Organized gangs of muslims have been raping vulnerable British girls for years. You'd think when that came out, there'd be bloody hell for it.
As we all well know, those assaults made headlines for a few days. Then the West went back to sleep.
