Defiant Oregon bakers fined $135,000 for their 2013 refusal to make a cake for a lesbian wedding reportedly vow to "fight back" against the state labor commissioner's stiff penalty and are calling on "Christians to take a stand."
"For years, weve heard same-sex marriage will not affect anybody," Aaron Klein, co-owner of Sweet Cakes by Melissa, told The Blaze.
"Im here firsthand to tell everyone in America that it has already impacted people. Christians, get ready to take a stand. Get ready for civil disobedience."
Oregon's Labor Commissioner Brad Avakian on Thursday issued a final ruling in the contentious discrimination case, ordering Klein and his wife and co-owner Melissa Klein to cut a check for the money to Rachel and Laurel Bowman-Cryer for refusing to bake them a cake for their same-sex nuptials.
"This case is not about a wedding cake or a marriage," Avakian wrote, according to The Oregonian.
"It is about a businesss refusal to serve someone because of their sexual orientation. Under Oregon law, that is illegal."
Oregons Equality Act of 2007 prohibits businesses from discriminating based on sexual orientation and other characteristics.
Aaron Klein told The Blaze he's got no intention of taking the order lying down.
"[Avakian] wants to silence anyone who opposes his point of view," Klein told The Blaze.
"Unfortunately, hes doing this with the wrong Christian, because I fight back."
Klein told The Blaze he and his wife will seek a stay in court to delay the order, which he said requires them to immediately pay the couple refused a cake by the bakery. He also said the couple would likely file an appeal.

So Gay Nanny State PING!
Thought crimes are expensive!!!
The fine was handed out by unelected bureaucrats who are beholden to the gaystapo. They ought to counter sue the board for violation of their first amendment rights.
Forcing someone to do work for someone else makes them a salve...
When did it become illegal to say no?
I always thougbt ‘contientious objector’ was protected under the Constitution.
So does this mean religious liberty has been repealed?
Truth be known, I’ll bet they would have sold them all the wedding cake they want. But what the gay couple wanted was something personalized on the cake, either their names or some wording or figurines that was specifically about gay.
That is the hang up the LGBT community wants imposed - Make Christians implicitly do things that endorse the LGBT movement.
Anthony Kennedy and idiots like him keep assuring
us that we still have and will always have our
liberties. Fargin’ Ice-hills.
If you live in a large city, when the SHTF.. it WILL GET ALL OVER YOU..
lol
Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.
I think that this fine would be excessive in the extreme in proportion to the harm inflicted.
I think the cost of the cake denied the couple and the cost of transportation to another bakery perhaps doubled for irritation caused the couple.
The righteous are bold as a lion indeed.
The Civil Rights Act of 1964
Goldwater fought against it for just this sort of reason.
It’s worth noting that it was a rival baker who derailed the GoFundMe campaign to raise money for these folks.
From golocalpdx:
“Lisa Watson, of Cupcake Jones, started her own campaign to contact GoFundMe and report the campaign as being in violation of their terms of service. Watsons own post on Facebook stated, this business has been found GUILTY OF DISCRIMINATION and is being allowed to fundraise to pay their penalty. The gofundme terms of service address hate speech, bigotry, criminal activity, and sexism among other things in their campaign The amount of money they have raised in a matter of a few hours by thousands of anonymous cowards is disgusting.
BTW, from their site: “We live our four core values every. single. day. Community, Sustainability, Equality, Pride.”
That should be on every window of every bakery
I agree! Thank goodness some are willing to protest the loss of Religious Freedom here... Sometimes (and it seems today often) the Supremes get is badly wrong!
