George Takei called Thomas a "clown in blackface" following the justice's dissent in last week's landmark same-sex marriage ruling.
Star Trek legend George Takei has apologized for calling Clarence Thomas a "clown in blackface" following the Supreme Court justice's dissent in last week's landmark same-sex marriage ruling, according to CNN.
"I was still seething, and I referred to him as a 'clown in blackface' to suggest that he had abdicated and abandoned his heritage," Takei wrote Friday in a Facebook post. "This was not intended to be racist, but rather to evoke a history of racism in the theatrical arts. While I continue to disagree with Justice Thomas, the words I chose, said in the heat of anger, were not carefully considered."
The incident began after last week's Supreme Court's same-sex marriage ruling, when Thomas, one of four dissenting justices, wrote that denying gays and lesbians the right to marry is not denying them of their dignity, the report says.

I’ve always found Takei to be a very nice person but his involvement in gay affairs has turned him into a bitter old man.
Sulu was never an icon or legend, just the token queer. If not for Star Trek no one would have known his name or dementia.
Another liberal apology that really isn’t.
These folks have this down to a science. Wonder if they distribute a template with fill in the blanks?
Post of the day! LOL
Shatner has said repeatedly that he barely KNOWS Takei.
Yeah they worked together 50 years ago, and on the movies, but face it, Sulu was a minor character.
Shatner was only close to Nimoy, the other actual STAR on Star Trek.
He's mentioned being friendly with DeForest Kelley, but pretty much as a "work" friend.
The others he barely interacted with outside of the show.
He even forgot Chekov's real name, when introducing the cast at some ST event.
To this day, he still pronounces Takei as "Ta-kye", which George just can't get over.
I think they settled around Kirk, Spock, and McCoy as the three stars, with occasional bits for Scottie and Uhura. Chekov and Sulu were good for an “aye-aye” from time-to-time in response to an “all ahead full” at the end of the show. The fact that Shatner hardly knew a bit-player like Takei isn’t really all that surprising. What is surprising is the tremendous mileage that George managed to get out of a show that lasted 79 episodes in which he was a very minor player.
I attended a sci fi convention not too many years ago and not many people even bothered to stop at George Takei’s table.
His career was resurrected by none other than Donald Trump on Celebrity Apprentice.
Be gentle with George. He suffers from Stockholm Syndrome. Even though he constantly whines about interment he never seems to realize it was imposed by Liberal icons like FDR and Earl Warren. Despite that he continues to support Liberal policies.
Then, too, just who is a greater authority on “black heritage” than some washed up, third rate Japanese actor?
Ah ah ah, Uncle Thomas is just a black who didn’t know his place (which is as servile to liberals).
It is a pageant of hate mixed with servility. No wonder Takei is now servile to hate.
Never blamed THAT liberal, did he?!?
“Racist, gay and stupid is no way to go through life, son.”
Who cares what this aging Space Faggie thinks?
"Icon?" He had a bit part in a TV show almost 50 years ago. That's an "Icon?"
What does that mean? What exact piece of Justice Thomas's "heritage" would suggest a history of/need to redefine the meaning of words and our Constitutuon ?
Wow. I haven’t seen you in a long time.
Still laughing!!!!!
You are TOO funny!!!!!!
Gay + dignity = Oil & Water
FUGT..............
