I understand the reason behind the internment. Takai still can’t. Perhaps I wouldn’t either if I were him. I am not, and I support the interment.

I do not support the confiscation of property associated with it, and I think more should have been done to restore those people when the threat was diminished.

There is room for complaint. This world isn’t perfect and that was a war-time setting.

Raising the issue every time you’re in the hot seat isn’t exactly what I’d call a productive thing to do, but then that’s what whiners do. Real men and women with backbone take responsibility for their own actions and stick to that topic when an apology is warranted.

I would challenge Takai to explain how he thinks his overall life was ruined by what took place.

As a star of one of the most popular television series and movie franchises ever, it’s hard for me to cough up a lot of sympathy for the guy.

Overall, he’s had it pretty good.

This does not prevent me from wishing the things associated with the internment hadn’t been necessary. It’s sad that they were.

"I know this as a survivor of the Japanese American internment,..."

were their lots of deaths in those internment camps?

Hyperbole much Mr. Sulu?

I didn’t see an apology to Justice Thomas. What the hell has he ever done with his life compared to Thomas. A freaking actor in space fantasy. Then he posts his apology on facebook where his adoring fans pat him on the back and say “that’s ok”.

Whatever he did in his life and whatever he is yet to do, he will always have “a blackfaced clown’ attached to his name.

A totally miserable POS with no credentials whatsoever.

He’s a liar. A real apology would include Seppuku.

George Takei’s acting skills are rivaled only by the lettuce in a Big Mac commercial.

One of my favorite interviews on Stern was with William Shatner, who tried to explain why Sulu hated him. Sulu's -- let's call him Sulu; let's not pretend we know this failed actor from anything other than pushing some buttons on Star Trek -- main beef with Shatner was that Shatner thought he was the star of Star Trek, well, him and Nimoy and Kelley, and to a lesser extent Doohan. Which... well, Shatner was embarrassed at trying to defend himself against this charge, but ultimately his defense really consisted of: Well yes, Idiot, in fact I was the star.

The other thing Shatner talked about is how Sulu was always angry that Sulu was not promoted to Captain (until the last Star Trek movie). Sulu wanted to be promoted to captain ages ago. He wanted his own command.

Shatner tried to put this delicately to Stern: Did Sulu not understand that if he got his own command, on his own ship, he was off the show and out of the movies?

"Let me apologize by justifying what I said."

That's the most queer apology I've ever read.

It is interesting to review the Supreme Courts Opinion on the Constitutionality of the Case and particularly the dissents. One of the dissenters was the only Republican on the Court, the second the only Catholic, the third obviously would be considered today as a Constitutionalist and who would limit executive governmental prerogatives. https://www.law.cornell.edu/supremecourt/text/323/214
I was in college at Syracuse University in the fall of 1950 and a large part of the required PoliSc class was dedicated to the Internment and another issue where a Black refused to serve in the military because of bigotry of American Government (can not remember objector name or if it was a court case).

Mr. Takei still does not understand what Judge Thomas was saying. As I understand it, the judge was asserting that even under oppression you do not yield your dignity.

It is pretty simple.

At the same time, there are people who are not under any real sort of oppression who yet have no dignity.
